Barcelona dominated the possession as usual and Valencia tried to breach their backline with the speed of their counterattack. Guillamon's handball incident awarded a penalty to Barcelona but Raphinha missed the opportunity to double up the lead. Araujo got a red card when he fouled Javier Alberola Rojas as the last-man defender. Valencia got the momentum and they made plenty of chances but were not clinical to find a goal.
