Sadio Mane and Noussair Mazraoui have both returned to team training, but it's still too early to start a game. Dayot Upamecano is suspended due to the red card he got vs Gladbach. Choupo-Moting also had a slight neck problem, but he and Kingsley Coman should both be available for the game.

Julian Nagelsmann received too much criticism after the loss vs Gladbach. He announced that Thomas Muller would definitely be in the starting XI vs Union Berlin. The defense is the main problem for Bayern. Union is a defensive team so, Julian Nagelsmann may go for an overly offensive back-four setup with Joao Cancelo and Alphonso Davies as wing-backs. Benjamin Pavard and Matthijs de Ligt are the only options as center-backs with Yann Sommer in goal.

It may seem unbelievable that a club with just three full seasons of top-flight experience could stand in the way of the Bavarians' title streak. Union Berlin gained promotion to the Bundesliga in 2020 and went on to finish 11th in their debut campaign. They finished seventh in 2020-21 and fifth last season, and they now stand a genuine chance of clinching the title. Although Union played a frustrating goalless draw against the bottom club Schalke 04 last weekend, they bounced straight back with a 3-1 victory over Dutch giants Ajax in the Europa League on Thursday, booking their place in the last 16.

There is no doubt the that Union has not been so good at finding the net at times this season, but they have remained defensively solid throughout the campaign, achieving the Bundesliga's second-best defensive record as a result.

Union Berlin will play without Schafer this weekend due to injury. They will also have to start without backup goalkeeper Jakob Busk, who is set to miss the trip to Allianz Arena due to illness, so Ronnow will aim to secure back-to-back clean sheets in the Bundesliga. Becker will be added to the lineup after a week's rest.

Bayern Munich's possible starting lineup:
Sommer; Cancelo, De Ligt, Pavard, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Coman, Musiala, Sane; Choupo-Moting

Union Berlin's possible starting lineup:
Ronnow; Jaeckel, Leite, Knoche; Juranovic, Haberer, Laidouni, Khedira, Trimmel; Siebatcheu, Becker
