The Copa del Rey, Spain's prestigious domestic cup competition, has delivered thrilling football and unforgettable moments over the past decade. The cup competition has witnessed a variety of champions and finalists over the last decade. Athletic Bilbao are the current champions.
With the round of 16 fixtures of the Copa del Rey 2024-25 season getting published, we present you with the past winners of the last decade. Here are the Copa del Rey past winners from the 2014/15 to 2023/24 season.

Finalists: Athletic Bilbao.
Barcelona flexed their dominance with a 3-1 win, led by Lionel Messi's brilliance at Camp Nou, in front of 99,354 people. Athletic Bilbao fought hard but could not stop Barca's treble pursuit. This was Barca's 27th Copa del Rey title.

Messi scored a brace in the 20th and 74th minutes while Neymar scored a stunner in the 34th minute. Inaki Williams scored a consolation goal for Atheltic Bilbao in the 79th minute.
2015-16 | FC Barcelona

Winner: FC Barcelona
Finalists: Sevilla
A gritty final saw Barcelona edge Sevilla 2-0 after extra time to become the first team since 1998 to defend the Copa del Rey title. Jordi Alba and Neymar Jr. sealed the victory in a match full of tension for the Culers.

Messi assisted twice in the extra added. However, Andres Iniesta was named the Player of the Match for his overall performance.

2016-17 | FC Barcelona

Winner: FC Barcelona
Finalists: Deportivo Alaves
Barcelona lifted their third straight Copa' defeating underdogs Alaves 3-1. First-half goals from Lionel Messi, Neymar and Paco Alacer helped Barcelona make a hat-trick of their own.

Not to forget, Theo Hernandez had equalled the scoreline in the 33rd minute after Messi's opener in the 30th minute. But, Neymar scored in the 45th minute while Alacer netted in the added time of first-half.

2017-18 | FC Barcelona

Finalists: Sevilla
FC Barcelona claimed their 30th and fourth consecutive Copa del Rey title in the 2017-18 season, with a dominant display against Sevilla. They defeated Sevilla by 5-0 as Luis Suarez scored a brace, while Messi, Iniesta and Philippe Coutinho scored one each.

Andres Iniesta bid farewell to FC Barcelona with a masterclass performance in the final.
2018-19 | Valencia

Winner: Valencia
Finalists: FC Barcelona
In front of 53,698 fans in Sevilla, Valencia stunned Barcelona with a 2-1 win, breaking their trophy drought. Barcelona were looking for their fifth consecutive Copa del Dey title. But, despite a late goal from Lionel Messi, Barcelona could not recover two early goals from Rodrigo and Kevin Gameiro.

It was a bittersweet end to Ernesto Valverde's resignation at Barca.
2019-20 | Real Sociedad

Winner: Real Sociedad
Finalist: Athletic Bilbao
In a historic Basque derby final. Real Sociedad triumphed 1-0, Mikel Oyarzabal's penalty making the difference. The 2020 Copa del Rey final was originally scheduled for 18 April 2020 but was postponed to 3 April 2021 due to Covid.

The match was so iconic that 18 of the 22 players who started the match, were from the Basque provinces. Moreover, 15 of those players were youth product of either Athletic or Real Sociedad.
2020-21 | FC Barcelona
Winner: FC Barcelona
Finalist: Athletic Bilbao
Barcelona roared back with a 4-0 Victory, thanks to Antoine Griezmann and Messi's magic. All four goals for Barcelona came in the second half. Griezmann scored first in the 60th minute. Three minutes later, Frenkie de Jong scored and then Messi followed with a brace in the 68th and 72nd minutes.

It was the last trophy Lionel Messi won with FC Barcelona. In the next season, he left the club and joined PSG.

2021-22 | Real Betis

Winner: Real Betis
Finalist: Valencia
Real Betis ended their 17-year wait for a trophy, beating Valencia in a nail-biting penalty shootout (5-4) after a 1-1 draw. Borja Iglesias scored in the 10th minute of the match. But, Hugo Duró equalised 20 minutes later and the game then had to be finalised with a penalty shootout.
The first six penalties were all converted but a miss from Valenica's Yunus Musah cost them the game.
2022-23 | Real Madrid

Winner: Real Madrid
Finalist: Osasuna
Real Madrid reclaimed the Copa with a 2-1 win, led by Rodrygo's double.

Osasuna's fairytale run ended in a spirited effort. Los Blancos won the Copa after a long wait of 8 years. Torro scored the lone goal for Osasuna in a hard-fought match. It was Real Madrid's 20th Copa del Rey title.
2023-24 | Athletic Bilbao

Winner: Athletic Bilbao
Finalist: Mallorca
In a thrilling finale, Athletic Bilbao triumphed over Mallorca 4-2 in a penalty shootout after a hard-fought 1-1 draw, securing a dramatic victory. It was Bilbao's 24th Copa del Rey title and they had to wait 40 years to win the title.
Athletic goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala saved Manuel Morlanes' penalty while Nemanja Radonjic missed the target in the crucial moment to hand Bilbao one of the greatest moments of recent years.
