The Durand Cup is the world's third and Asia's oldest football tournament. It was started way back in 1888 by Mortimer Durand, the former foreign secretary of British India. Initially it was just open to the armed forces, but was later made open to football clubs as well.

It is jointly organized by the Durand Cup Football Tournament Society and the All India Football Federation (AIFF). The winner is awarded with three trophies – The Durand Cup, President's Cup and the Shimla Trophy.

Mohun Bagan and East Bengal are the most successful teams of the Durand Cup with 16 titles each while FC Goa became the first Indian Super League (ISL) side to win it in 2021. The Gaurs defeated former winners Mohammedan Sporting in extra time in the final to script history.
