Match Preview
Costa Rica is set to end their second ever World Cup campaign after failing to win or draw their matches against strong opponents Japan Spain. They lost their opening match against Spain by 2 goals to nil and their second match against Japan by a 2-0 aggregate, making it impossible for themselves to advance into the Round of 16 stage in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023.
Costa Rica is yet to win a single game in the World Cups and the match against Zambia will be a golden opportunity for them to open their win account in this tournament. In 2015, they were able to draw to matches but this time it's even worse as they lost the opening two games of their World Cup campaign.
On the other hand, Zambia have also struggled to showcase their best performance in their debut World Cup campaign. They lost both of their matches by a deficit of 5 goals to none. A very shameful performance in terms of the exceptions we had from this young Zambia team.
Their hopes of making it out of the Group stages are also over but everyone kind of predicted it when the groups were drawn. Both Spain and Japan are very strong competitors and were everyone's favourite to top this group. But Zambia will be looking to earn their first ever victory at the FIFA Women's World Cup against a much less competitive team in the name of Costa Rica in their last group stage game
