The FIFA World Cup is upon us once again as Qatar hosts the 22nd edition of the World Event which brings the world to a halt.

The FIFA World Cup 2022 will be a first in Qatar and is set to be played for the very first time during mid-season (November-December).

All 32 teams have booked their tickets to the once in 4 years event and we are set for an absolute riot during the next few months as we inch ever so close to the FIFA World Cup.

Today, we will look into some All-time records held by various greats of the game ahead of the FIFA World Cup to let you know what is in store for all the fans.

World Cup Titles:

Brazil may have won the most FIFA World Cups in the history of the event with 5 to their name.

It is the country's and one of world football's greats, Pele who stands alone atop for having won most titles as an individual player.

Pele has won 3 World Cup titles during for Brazil; being the 1958, 1962 and 1970.

The 1958 World Cup saw Pele lift the title at the tender age of 18 followed by another 2 successful triumphs as he entered this elite list.

Highest Goals Scored:

Germany's Miroslav Klose holds the records for scoring most goals in the World Cup finals.

Klose has scored 16 goals in 24 matches for Die Mannschaft and has been part of 4 World Cup finals.

The German scored 5, 5, 4 and 2 goals in the 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup's respectively.

It took him 4 attempts before he triumphed as Germany lifted the 2014 World Cup in Brazil by beating Argentina in the finals.

Diego Maradona had eight assists in his 21 appearances for Argentina over the 4 tournaments he played in.

Apart from that Maradona has also won 152 free-kicks in the World Cup which is the most in the tournament history.

Such was the aura, greatness and genius of Maradona that such stats remain unmatched.

It was the victorious 1986 WC that saw Maradona provide 5 assists including the one in the final against Germany. In the 1990 and 1994 events, the Argentine provide 2 and 1 assist respectively.

Lothar Matthäus of Germany has played 25 matches for Germany in World Cup finals and holds this record proudly.

He represented Germany in 5 successive World Cup's from 1982 to 1998.

After being runners-up in 1982 and 1986, the German managed to lift the title in 1990 as West Germany beat Argentina in the final.

Brazilian full back, Cafu holds the record for most appearances in a World Cup final.

He was part of the Brazil side that played in 3 finals (1982, 1998 and 2002) out of which Cafu was successful in 1994 and 2002. He finished runners-up in the 1998 event in France. Cafu is Brazil's most capped international footballer as well.
