In football transfer news, Bayern Munich are prepared to enter a bidding war with Liverpool to sign Mason Mount this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Thomas Tuchel is pushing the German giants to sign the 24-year-old Chelsea star after being impressed by his ability during his spell as manager at Stamford Bridge.

In other football transfer news, Liverpool and Arsenal are also interested in signing the England international and Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (28 April) that both Premier League sides have already prepared offers for Mount's signature.

But Bayern have prepared a sizeable summer budget ahead of the summer window and are ready to match all offers for Mount in an attempt to lure him to Germany.

Mount's contract with Chelsea expires in 2024 and negotiations over a new deal have been halted by his wage demands.

It is understood that Bayern are willing to meet Mount's requested wages.

Mount is into his sixth year at Chelsea after graduating from their youth academy in 2017 – he has gone on to score 33 goals and assist 37 times for the Blues in 195 appearances.

He has played under Frank Lampard, Tuchel and Graham Potter at Stamford Bridge, and stats show that his most productive spell at the club came under the German coach.

In his 87 appearances under Tuchel, Mount scored 19 goals and assisted 20 times, while he also won the Champions League, Uefa Super Cup and Fifa Club World Cup under his tutelage.

Liverpool remain the favourites to sign Mount after holding talks with the player and his representatives, but he is also intrigued by a potential reunion with Tuchel in Munich.

That has fueled interest with clubs hoping they can sign Mount for a bargain price but The Athletic journalist David Ornstein says that a "conversation" between Mount and Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has given the Blues a glimmer of hope that they can strike a deal.

"You can still have dialogue and I revealed that on Friday of last week there was a conversation directly between Todd Boehly, Chelsea's controlling co-owner, and Mason Mount personally," Ornstein told Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE.
