Guendouzi to Lazio

Lazio are on the brink of signing their midfield target Matteo Guendouzi after agreeing a loan move with Marseille as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

After agreeing a deal with the french club, the Biancocelesti have been working on personal terms of the player and the commission fee of Guendouzi's agent.

They have eventually received the green light from the former Arsenal player, who is expected to fly to Rome tonight to undergo his medical tests.

Lazio will pay an initial loan fee of €1 million and an option to buy is also added in the clause which is worth €12m plus €5m add ons.

Following a not so convincing time at Arsenal, the midfielder came up big for the french side, Marseille. He was vital for their midfield last season and now Lazio wants the same quality in their midfield too.

However, he fell out of favour during the final few months of the previous season under Igor Tudor, and his situation with the new head coach, Marcelino, has not improved.

As a result, Guendouzi got opened the door for a move elsewhere where he can get some well deserved game time and probably a place in the starting XI.

Several clubs were interested in the Frenchman, but the Biancocelesti emerged victorious in the transfer race.

Lazio missed out on a few targets for their midfield, some of those players were Djibril Sow, Arsen Zakharyan and Leandro Paredes which even led to a quarrel between Maurizio Sarri and club president Claudio Lotito.

Sarri will be relieved to get the services of Guendouzi right at the end of the transfer window.

Guendouzi will join the long list of summer signings at Stadio Olimpico, which includes Valentin Castellanos, Gustav Isaksen, Luigi Sepe, Daichi Kamada, Nicolo Rovella, Luca Pellegrini, Diego Gonzalez and Matteo Cancellieri.

Sarri's men are off to a terrible start to the new season, losing both their games against Lecce and Genoa but with the new signing they would try to turn things around.
