India and the Indian football team had a fantastic night at the VYBK Stadium in Kolkata in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers on Saturday. The Blue Tigers defeated Afghanistan 2-1 to solidify their position in the group and inch one step closer to booking a place for AFC Asian Cup 2023.

Ever dependable captain and talisman Sunil Chhetri opened the scoring for India in the 86th minute with a stunning free-kick goal. However, Afghanistan netted an equalizer two minutes later. However, Kerala Blasters star Sahal Abdul Samad scored in stoppage time to script an incredible comeback victory for India.

However, what was supposed to be a glorious night for the Indian team soon turned into something ugly. After the match got over, a group of India and Afghanistan players was seen being involved in an ugly scuffle. The video of this fight quickly spread on social media like wildfire.

After Afghanistan lost the match in the dying minutes of the game, a few of their footballers went over to the Indian contingent and started arguing. However, the argument then turned into an ugly fight. In the video, two players from India and three from Afghanistan were seen hurling verbal tirades and each other which resulted in some pushing and shoving initially. However, afterward, the scuffle escalated.

India's goalkeeper rushed to the spot and tried to calm both the camps. However, it was of no use, as more Afghanistan players rushed from their dugout to get involved in the fight. A player was even seen smacking Sandhu on the face. Even the AFC officials went in to calm the situation but it intensified even further. The players pulled each other's shirts and even some fist blows were traded before the fight finally came to an end. The reason why the scuffle broke out is still yet to be known.

India lie second in Group D, tied on six points with Hong Kong in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. The two teams will now face each other in the summit clash to determine who directly qualifies for the continental showpiece event in 2023.
