The India U-17 boys played out a hard-fought 3-3 draw against Real Madrid U17 in a training game in Madrid on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
The India U-17s are currently in Madrid, Spain, where they are playing a series of practice matches as part of their preparation for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2023, which will take place in Thailand in June, this year.

Madrid took the lead in the 37th minute through Arevalo, but the Blue Colts only took a minute to level the score when Shashwat found the back of the net off a cross from skipper Korou, who had a good day in office.
India surged into the lead when Ralte found the target three minutes after the break. Shashwat had set it up perfectly for Ralte to slot it home, but the home side scored two quick goals through A. Sanchez (52', 69'). However, it was Gangte's 90th minute strike off a Korou cross that brought the equaliser.
In other actions of the match, the Indian colts availed themselves of several attacking opportunities from the start and in the 14th minute, Shashwat's shot was cleared by Real Madrid's Borja inside the 6-yard box.
FULL-TIME! An interesting encounter ends in a draw tonight 🙌🏼
— Indian Football Team (@IndianFootball) May 3, 2023
As India continued to attack, Ralte and Ricky looked lively throughout the first half and weaved their way past a multitude of defenders to create chances for India.
Changing over, the Indian boys started to show more intent as the game resumed. India had the best chance to take the lead when the score was 2-2, but Shashwat's rebound shot from a free-kick hit the crossbar.

Bengaluru FC showed no mercy on Mumbai City FC in the first knockout match in the ISL 2024-25 play-offs, thrashing the defending cup winners 5-0 to secure a well-deserved semi-finals berth.
Suresh Singh Wangjam, Edgar Mendez, Ryan Williams, Sunil Chhetri, and Jorge Pereyra Diaz each scored a goal to run riot over the Islanders, stamping a clean-sheet as well.
Despite a tumultuous run in the league stage this season, Bengaluru finished third on the leaderboard, having bagged 38 points in 24 matches. The Blues secured third place due to better head-to-head stats against the fourth and fifth-placed teams.
"My message to the team and to the fans, is here. Together. I said before the match that I wanted a party, and we enjoyed that. In four days we have another party." 🗓️
However, head coach Gerard Zaragoza has a strong squad available for the semi-final clashes against FC Goa. Despite Vinith Venkatesh having suffered a knock against Mumbai, he might be available for the first leg. However, Bengaluru's second-choice keeper, Lalthuammawia Ralte, is still unavailable after suffering an injury in late February this year.
Bengaluru have not won a game against FC Goa in their last five meetings, and the Blues aim to change that as the first leg takes place at their home stadium.

David Doniga has a very impressive coaching career despite taking up jobs mostly as an assistant manager. The 43-year-old Spanish tactician has gathered experience in coaching across 6 countries: Spain, Kuwait, Ecuador, Panama, El Salvador, and Bolivia.
Leading El Salvador to the CONCACAF Nations League A is the most praiseworthy feat Doniga has achieved so far in his career. The Spanish mastermind became the head coach of El Salvador in January 2024 before getting sacked a year later, in February 2025.
In the 2024-25 CONCACAF Nations League B Group A, El Salvador topped the group with five wins out of six games, earning promotion to League A, and earning qualification for the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup as well under his managerial radar.
Interestingly, Doniga was on the sidelines when El Salvador faced world champions Argentina in a 0-3 defeat in Philadelphia, US on March 23, 2024. During his tenure, Doniga oversaw 14 matches with El Salvador, achieving 7 victories, 3 draws, and 4 losses
Doniga served as an assistant coach in Kuwaiti football in 2021 and was appointed as an assistant to Thomas Christiansen on the Panama national team, where he also led the under-23 squad.
Doniga as Panama U-23 coach in 2023.
The Spanish manager also became a crucial tactical brain behind Panama's brilliant run in the third round of the 2022 World Cup qualifying, when Panama finished fifth on the table, missing out of the inter-continental play-off zone for only four points.
In 2022, he had a brief coaching stint with AD Nueve de Octubre in the Ecuadorian Liga Pro Serie A. After that, he worked with Sporting San Miguelito in Panamanian football from June to December 2023.

However, Doniga has experience working in LaLiga as well, having assisted Victor Sanchez as an assistant coach for Real Betis between November 2016 to May 2017. He also assisted Victor for clubs such as Spanish sides Deportivo, Malaga, and Greek side Olympiacos in different short stints.
