Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid will meet at the San Siro for the UCL 2023-24 Round Of 16 1st leg match. Internazionale are coming after thrashing Salernitana by 4-0 in their latest Serie A fixture. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are coming into the match after defeating Las Palmas by 5-0 at home.

Inter Milan are at the top of the Serie A table at the moment and have been in excellent form this season. Atletico Madrid are currently in fourth place in the La Liga standings and have been impressive on their domestic and cup matches this season.

Lautaro Martinez is having an outstanding season, scoring 23 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions. Marcus Thuram is in wonderful form as well, but he is struggling against low blocks. Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has become a real force for Inter this season in several ways. He has scored nine Serie A goals this season and also bagged one in the UCL group stage. Calhanoglu has also scored against Atletico Madrid as well in the past with Bayer Leverkusen.

Inter are playing brilliantly at home this season. They have conceded just one goal in their three home Champions League group matches. Internazionale have kept two straight clean sheets at home, including against Juventus in a critical Serie A title clash. Inter Milan are looking way better team at the moment and holds a slight upper hand going into this game.

Of the five times Atletico have been held without a goal this season, they lost four of those games, only able to manage a scoreless draw once. So, facing Inter will be the biggest challenge for them until now this season.

Under Diego Simeone, Atletico Madrid have won five of six previous knockout matches against Italian clubs, and the Spanish side would now like to register their sixth at San Siro.

Gabriel Paulista, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Thomas Lemar are all sidelined with injuries while Alvaro Morata was withdrawn at half time against Sevilla due to a knee injury that also saw him not taking part in Atleti's recent win.
