After having a great start to the 2023-24 season, Mohun Bagan Super Giant were hit by a string of defeats and that led to head coach Juan Ferrando's resignation as well at the start of the year. Mohun Bagan only won three games while drawing twice and losing six times in their last 11 games since 24th October 2023.

Now with many players of the squad being injured and unavailable due to National duties, Mohun Bagan fans would have to depend on their foreign players for a positive outcome in Kalinga Super Cup 2024. Anwar Ali is still not available but has travelled with the team to Bhubanweshar and will do his rehab there.
