Atalanta beat Liverpool at Anfield by 3-0 in the first leg of the Uefa Europa League 2023-24 and this could be Jurgen Klopp's final European game at Anfield. Gianluca Scamacca struck twice as Atalanta stunned Liverpool at home. The visitors took the lead after Scamacca's grounded shot got past goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher in the 38th minute. Scamacca scored his second in the second half while Pasalic came up with the third of the night to take a healthy lead ahead of the second leg at home.
This was a terrible display from the Reds. They took Atalanta lightly and they paid the price. Atalanta took the lead when an unmarked Scamacca scored from Zappacosta’s pinpoint pass. Liverpool dominated the possession but couldn't do anything to stop the Nerazzurries. Scamaca scored his second from a fine cross by Charles De Ketelaere in the 60th minute before Mario Pasalic sealed the game, scoring their third goal in the 83rd minute. This is arguably Atalanta's greatest European victory.
Liverpool vs Atalants: Iconic scenes at Anfield | Image: X
Pasalic's 50th goal for Atalanta gave a huge blow to the tournament favourites on their turf and now the Reds need to win by four goals in the return leg next Thursday. Klopp sent on Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Andy Robertson as substitutes for the second half, but it was too late. The Italian side are now the favourites to qualify for the Semis and Liverpool have to replicate their Barcelona performance. Still, the second leg of that match was played at Anfield. This time, it will be much more difficult and different.
Atalanta won at Anfield 2-0 in the Champions League group stage in 2020. Liverpool won the English League Cup and are in the Premier League title race with Arsenal and Manchester City. Earlier, they were eliminated from the FA Cup in the quarterfinals after losing to Manchester United.

In the world of football, few clubs stand out like Chelsea FC. Their trophy cabinet tells a story of incredible success, proving that they have truly won it all!
With their recent UEFA Conference League 4-1 victory over Real Betis, Chelsea completed a historic sweep of all major UEFA titles, topping up with their 2nd FIFA Club World Cup title, all in 2025.
Here is trophy cabinet of Chelsea FC that defines their successful journey in the football world. Take a look.
European Royalty: Conquering the Continent

Chelsea have battled across the continent's most prestigious stages and won every major UEFA club trophy, a feat few clubs can claim.
Their crowning achivements including 2 UEFA Champions League titles, notable defeating Bayern Munich [1-1 (4-3 pens)] in 2012 and Manchester City (1-0) in 2021.
Beyond the Champions League, Chelsea also lifted the UEFA Europa League twice (2013, 2019), and the now-defunct UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1971, famously against Real Madrid in the replay, and also in 1998.
Additionally, two UEFA Super Cup victories (1998, 2021) further highlight their continental dominance.
The collection was completed with their 2025 UEFA Conference League triumph, where Chelsea FC beat Real Betis 4-1 in the final.
The domestic dominance of Chelsea FC

Beyond their European conquests, they have also established as masters of England by securing highest domestic honors.
The Blues clinched the First Division/Premier League title and impress six times (1955, 2005, 2006, 2010, 2015, 2017) along with eightFA Cup victories (1970, 1997, 2000, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2018). This makes them the competition's most successful team.
Their domestic dominance also extends to League Cup, which they have won fivetimes in the following years: 1965, 1998, 2005, 2007, 2015.
Completing the Set: Global and Historic Honors

Chelsea's trophy cabinet truly lives upto the "won it all" status by having a collection of unique, historical, and global titles.
The FIFA Club World Cup win over Palmeiras (2-1) in 2021, made them only London club to win the Champions League as well as the FIFA Club World Cup. More recently, they added their 2nd CWC title after a dominating 3-0 victory over PSG in 2025.
Further adding to their phenomenal collection are fourCharity/Community Shield triumphs (1955, 2000, 2005, 2009), which mark their traditional early-season dominance.
As we move down to the final count, Chelsea also holds two Full Members' Club Victories (1986, 1990).
Liverpool FC have announced that the club will retire the number 20 jersey across all levels of the club in honour and memory of Diogo Jota, who passed away in a tragic accident a few weeks back.

Jota, who had featured in 182 games for Liverpool, had won the Premier League 2024-25 title with the club. The Portuguese striker scored 65 goals and assisted 26 times for the Reds across competitions.
Moreover, he had recently won the UEFA Nations League with Portugal as well.
"After consultation with his wife, Rute, and family, the club can announce the squad number will be retired in honour and memory of Diogo across all levels, including LFC Women and Academy," a statement from the club read.
"The move is recognition of not only the immeasurable contribution our lad from Portugal made to the Reds’ on-pitch successes over the last five years, but also the profound personal impact he had on his teammates, colleagues and supporters and the everlasting connections he built with them," the statement added.
“As a club, we were all acutely aware of the sentiment of our supporters – and we felt exactly the same way,” said Michael Edwards, FSG CEO of Football.
“It was vitally important to us to involve Diogo’s wife, Rute, and his family in the decision and to ensure they were the first to know of our intention.
“I believe this is the first time in Liverpool Football Club’s history that such an honour has been bestowed upon an individual. Therefore, we can say this is a unique tribute to a uniquely wonderful person.
“By retiring this squad number, we are making it eternal – and therefore never to be forgotten.
“Diogo joined us in 2020, he won us number 20, and he wore – with honour, distinction and affection – the number 20.
“As far as Liverpool Football Club is concerned, he will be forever our number 20," Edwards added.

For years, England's most prolific striker, Harry Kane, was burdened by an unfortunate tag: "trophy virgin." Despite his goal-scoring records and individual brilliance, a major team trophy has always slipped away from him.
But 2025 finally saw the narrative shattered as Kane immediately made his mark after joining Bayern Munich, leading them to their 33rd Bundesliga title. He was also the top scorer of the 2024-25 season, having scored 26 goals and 8 assists.
This victory felt like a personal one, putting a line to complete the picture in his football career.

2025 finally broke Tottenham Hotspur's 17-year trophy drought, as they won the UEFA Europa League. This was a monumental win, bringing the title back to North London.
The tense final against Manchester United saw a crucial goal from Brennan Johnson secure the 1-0 victory. However, the most iconic image was Son Heung-min, the club's long-serving captain, finally lifting a major trophy.
