After suffering an unfortunate exit from the UEFA Champions League in the group stage, Manchester United put up a fight against Liverpool at Anfield. Erik ten Hag's Man United frustrated the Reds and played out a goalless draw at Anfield. The Red Devils ended Liverpool's perfect record at home. This was Man United's first draw of the season in the Premier League 2023-24 season. Erik ten Hag came up with a plan in the Liverpool vs Manchester United match and the players performed with their hearts out to execute it successfully.

Arsenal are now a point ahead of second-placed Liverpool. The Gunners and Liverpool are closely followed by Aston Villa, who are on their dream run in the English top flight. Villa earned a 2-1 win over Brentford in their away game to take the third spot on the EPL points table. Both Liverpool and Villa are now level on points in the Premier League. The Red Devils are now placed seventh in the Premier League standings with 28 points from 17 games after restricting Liverpool from scoring at Anfield.
"You have to fight always for the badge. The way we defended it was almost perfect. When we made a mistake there was always a teammate to sort it out. I think that is the big win from today. We have to keep this and bring this every game," Erik ten Hag said after the match.
"The main thing I don't like is the result, we should have won the game. I can't remember this kind of dominance against Manchester United as we did today. It was special, the atmosphere was special," Liverpool manager Klopp said after the match.
Liverpool vs Manchester United: What happened in the game?
Rasmus Hojlund's close-range effort in the second half was the best opening created by both teams in the 0-0 draw at Anfield. United had Diogo Dalot sent off for dissent in the final seconds of stoppage time at Anfield. Dalot's positive contribution was followed by a needless one when he was shown a second yellow card for berating referee Michael Oliver while disputing a throw-in. That red card is surely controversial as Dalot did nothing wrong and the referee didn't even want to look at VAR.
Erik ten Hag's team were back at Anfield for the first time since being hammered there 7-0 in March, one of the most humiliating defeats in the club's history. They remain without a win at Anfield since 2016, but after so many visits over the last seven years, United finally got something to show from the venue.
Without a goal in his last nine games, Darwin Nunez couldn't convert Mohamed Salah's lobbed cross. Salah has enjoyed tormenting United in the past and he nearly bagged another goal at their expense when his close-range effort was deflected wide after Andre Onana failed to hold Nunez's header.
Andre Onana was amazing today and he showed why Erik ten Hag brought him to Manchester United this season. He sure made some huge mistakes but played like a wall against Liverpool. United's defence was organised enough to keep Klopp's men at bay.
Klopp moved Alexander-Arnold into midfield and the right-back went close with a first-time shot that flashed inches wide from the edge of the area. That was the best shot that was taken by Liverpool.
Garnacho and Hojlund had the chances as well for Manchester United. Mainoo's brilliant through pass broke the backline and found Garnacho but he took time to take a shot and Trent came up with a brilliant interception.
Rasmus Hojlund then hit the shot straight at Alisson Becker after Scott McTominay's pass gave him a glorious opportunity to break the deadlock. That was probably the best chance of the match. Liverpool would not be happy with the draw but on the other side, United came up with a plan and executed it.
