In today's Manchester United News, Erik ten Hag lauded Cristiano Ronaldo's "good impact" in Manchester United's 3-2 win over Omonia Nicosia.

Ronaldo had nine attempts at goal and hit the post on another scoreless night as he was recalled to the side at the expense of Marcus Rashford.

Rashford came on to score twice, his first goal seizing on a gap opened up by Ronaldo's run and the second a tap-in from a shanked shot by Ronaldo.

Omonia manager Neil Lennon remarked "fortunately for us, Cristiano didn't have his shooting boots on" and the 37-year-old has not scored from open play for United since April.

"I think they were on target as well," Ten Hag said when reminded of Ronaldo's impotence. "The first two, good saves from the goalie, so he had a couple of chances, he created a couple of chances.

"He was involved with a good run with the first goal for Marcus Rashford, so he had an impact in this game.

"I think we created a lot of chances tonight, we count them only in the first-half already 14, so there was a lot of threat to the opponent's goal."

Ronaldo has not scored a club goal from open play since he equalised against Chelsea on April 28 and it is uncertain whether he will keep his place at Everton on Sunday.

United stayed in Cyprus overnight and will have their full training session on the island rather than at their Carrington training complex ahead of the fixture at Goodison Park.

Ten Hag said: "That's the best in relation to recovery and preparation for the game on Sunday."
