El-Clasico stats since Messi left Barcelona

Since Lionel Messi left his first team FC Barcelona in 2021, Barcelona have played 15 games against Real Madrid in El-Clasico football matches. Barcelona won 8 times while losing 7 times in those games.

Oct 26, 2025, 4:17 AM3 min read

Lionel Messi left FC Barcelona in August 2021 and joined PSG. Later he joined Inter Miami from PSG.

Barcelona's record-goal scorer Lionel Messi remained the face of the Catalan giants throughout his trophy-laden stint at Camp Nou, especially his terrific contributions in El-Clasico.

Often dubbed as one of the greatest footballers in the history of the beautiful game, goal-machine Messi used to run rings around Real Madrid even when his Ballon d'Or arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo was at the peak of his powers.

There is no denying that the golden era of El Clasico came to an end when Ronaldo left Santiago Bernabeu in 2018.

Three years after Ronaldo's sensational transfer to Juventus, record-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi made headlines when he ended his long association with FC Barcelona in 2021.

After Messi joined Kylian Mbappe and Neymar at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), arch-rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid played out the first-ever Clasico without Messi or Ronaldo in the 2021/22 season since 2007.

El-Clasico: How many times have Barcelona defeated Madrid without Messi?

El-Clasico stats since Messi left Barcelona | sportzpoint.com

Not just Ronaldo, Messi has an edge over all La Liga icons when it comes to playing El-Clasico matches in the Spanish top flight. With 26 goals for Barcelona, Messi left Camp Nou as the all-time top goalscorer in the history of El-Clasico.

In his final Clasico appearance, Messi failed to inspire Barcelona as Real Madrid battled past Blaugrana at the Bernabeu in 2021. Since Messi's transfer to PSG, Barcelona have met Real Madrid in 12 competitive games.

In those 15 El-Clasico games, Barcelona won 8 times while Real Madrid won 7 times. None of those games has been drawn

FC Barcelona vs Olympiacos, UEFA Champions League 2025-26 recap: Hat-trick from Fermin; Brace from Rashford - Barcelona thrash Olympiacos 6-1

Welcome to the live blog coverage of the UEFA Champions League 2025-26 Group Phase match between FC Barcelona and Olympiacos, taking place tonight at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, Barcelona. Kickoff is set for 6:45 PM CET (10:15 PM IST) on October 21, 2025.

Barcelona comes into this fixture after a dramatic 2-1 comeback win against Girona in La Liga, looking to bounce back from a recent setback in Europe, where they lost narrowly to PSG.

Currently holding a critical playoff spot in the group, Barcelona aims to secure full points to strengthen their campaign and avoid the additional playoff round.

Olympiacos, meanwhile, seeks their first Champions League victory of the season, having struggled for goals but showing a resilient defensive stance.

Barcelona are managing some fitness challenges but still relies heavily on their attacking threat and midfield control to dominate. Olympiacos, Greece’s most successful club and recent Conference League winners, rely on effective counter-attacks and defensive solidity, with key players like Mehdi Taremi, Roman Yaremchuk, and Ayoub El Kaabi expected to pose the main threat.
