Argentina Football Association named an 18-man squad for the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024. Former Argentine great Javier Mascherano will be the coach for the team. Lionel Messi had already stated that playing in the Olympics would be "too much" for him, and he was unavailable for selection.
Olympic teams can have only three senior players in the squad who are above the age of 23. Since Lionel Messi and Angel di Maria had already made themselves unavailable, Julian Alvarez, the FIFA World Cup 2022 winner was called by Mascherano. Along with him, Nicolas Otamendi will be another senior player in the squad.
The 2004 and 2008 Olympic gold medal winners are in Group B alongside Morocco, Ukraine and Iraq.
