Record transfer signings for Europe's selected top clubs:
1. PSG | Neymar (€222.00m)
Every headline around the world was covered with only one name that day 'Neymar'. He broke every record in the football world and emerged out as the most expensive player on the planet. His market value at the time was €100m at Barcelona, and PSG paid more than double of the market value (€222.00m) in order to bring the Brazilian to the team. Although their main motive was to win the UCL, they lost the final in 2020 to Bayern and that's the closest they have been to that silverware.
2. FC Barcelona | Phillepe Coutinho (€135.00m)
An expensive Barcelona signing that didn't go as planned. Philippe Coutinho came with a huge price tag of €135.00m on his back from Liverpool. The attacking mid-fielder never really flourished in the Blaugrana colours as he used to do for the reds in Anfield. His poor run of form continued and Barcelona was forced to send him out on loan to Bayern Munich. Bayern added salt to Barca's wound as they will go on to win the UCL in 2020 with Coutinho scoring a brace against Barcelona in the UCL semis. However, he still remains the most expensive record transfer in the history of FC Barcelona.
