Manchester City made the move of the window after they signed the ever-impressive Jack Grealish for a whopping fee of £ 100 million. Manchester City broke the premier league record of the most expensive transfer in history, previously held by Manchester United's Pogba. The Aston Villa star attracted people's attention after producing magical performances for Aston Villa day in and day out. However, doubts remain on where the mid-fielder would slot in with the likes of De Bruyne, Torres, Foden already in the team. Jack Grealish supposedly refused a higher salary from Aston Villa in order to play for Manchester City. According to multiple reports he wanted to win titles and there's no better place than Man city to do it.

2. Enzo Fernandez (105m Euros)

Chelsea dramatically agreed a British record deal to sign midfielder Enzo Fernández with an hour of the January transfer window to spare to push the club's spending past the £500 million mark under the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital ownership.

Co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali led negotiations with Benfica from London on transfer deadline day and refused to take no for an answer during more than 12 hours of negotiations.

A breakthrough was finally made at around 10pm, ahead of the window officially shutting at 11pm for Fernández to move to Stamford Bridge for a fee in excess of 120 million euros.

That not only set a new club record, but also eclipsed the previous British record that was set by Jack Grealish's £100m move to Manchester City from Aston Villa.

1. Moises Caicedo (115m Euros)

Chelsea have completed the signing of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo for a £100m fee that could rise to a British club record of £115m.

Liverpool agreed a £111m deal for the 21-year-old Ecuador player on Friday.

But Caicedo's preference was Chelsea and they finally succeeded with a bid on Sunday evening after having a succession of offers rejected.

Caicedo, who joined Brighton for £4m in February 2021, has agreed an eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge and the Blues have an option of a further year.

The additional £15m in payments is based mostly on appearances and Brighton expect to receive the entire £115m within a short period of time.

The Seagulls have also negotiated a significant sell-on clause for the midfielder.

If Chelsea pay the full £115m fee it would mean they break the British club record twice in 2023, following the £107m purchase of Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez in January.

For now Moises Caicedo is the most expensive Chelsea signing ever.
