9. Kepa Arrizabalaga (£ 80 million)

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is the most expensive goalkeeper in football history. Chelsea bought him from Laliga side Athletic Bilbao for a whooping £ 80 million. However, the Spanish international has not found his place in the starting xi and has been a regular bench warmer lately. Meanwhile, Tuchel has shown his trust over Edouard Mendy to be the man between the sticks.

8. Nicolas Pepe (£ 80 million)

The Ivory Coast international winger cum forward earned his way to Arsenal after his stellar performance with Lille. Although the Gunners got him for £ 80 million, he has failed to impress in the Premier League. Arsenal broke its bank to get this player, but they have got nothing except disappointment till now.

7. Kai Havertz (£ 80 million)

A bunch of clubs wanted him after watching his stellar performance with Bayer Leverkusen. Liverpool isn’t known for their big-money buys however, this isn’t the case here. The 6-time European Champions broke their banks to get hands-on with the Dutch defender Virgil Van Dijk. Liverpool paid a hefty fee of £ 84.65 million to Southampton FC to get him. Van Dijk was the most expensive defender in the world at the time however, he is now the second most expensive defender in football history.

5. Romelu Lukaku (£ 84.70 million)

Romelo Lukaku caught all eyes on him when he played for Everton. Manchester United was in a dire need of a striker and Lukaku emerged as the man of the moment. However, the Red Devils had to pay £ 84.70 million to the Merseyside club, Everton, to get him. Although he had a decent performance in the premier league for Manchester United, he left the club last season and joined Inter Milan. Lukaku turned things on the head for Inter as they won their first league since the 2009-10 season.

4. Jadon Sancho ( £ 85 million)

The young English prospect Jadon Sancho is the latest signing for Manchester United this season. Jadon Sancho was on every club’s radar but Manchester United had the last laugh. They signed Sancho for £ 85 million from Borussia Dortmund putting him on no.3 in the list of most expensive transfers in the Premier League history. However, Sancho didn’t have the greatest of Euros for England, he will look to contribute in the reds.

3. Harry Maguire (£ 87 million) 

England’s one of the trusted defenders in EURO 2020, left Leicester City for Manchester United for a fee of £ 87 million, making him the most expensive defender of all time. Maguire did quite well for England in the Euros and will look to carry on the form when he takes the pitch for Manchester United.

They like to spend heavy money on the players but it doesn’t always produce the result they hope for. Paul Pogba is one such signing for them, he was an absolute star at Juventus which is the reason he carried a huge value in the market. Pogba came back to his boyhood club after a career-defining stint at Juventus for a whopping fee of £89.3 million. Since then he has been a decent player for the red-devils but couldn’t produce anything extraordinary when compared to the price tag that he carries.

1. Jack Grealish (£ 100 million)

Manchester City made the move of the window after they signed the ever-impressive Jack Grealish for a whopping fee of £ 100 million. Manchester City broke the premier league record of the most expensive transfer in history, previously held by Manchester United’s Pogba. The Aston Villa star attracted people’s attention after producing magical performances for Aston Villa day in and day out. However, doubts remain on where the mid-fielder would slot in with the likes of De Bruyne, Torres, Foden already in the team. Jack Grealish supposedly refused a higher salary from Aston Villa in order to play for Manchester City. According to multiple reports he wanted to win titles and there’s no better place than Man city to do it.
