Romelu Lukaku wants to join AS Roma

The Belgian attacker is frustrated with his uncertain future as Inter and Juventus both withdrew from talks for him in recent weeks and Chelsea clearly don't want him in their project. His lawyer, Sebastien Ledure, has approached Roma and Milan as Lukaku wants to return to Italy, according to some reports. According to several sources, including Sky Sport, the Giallorossi can only secure his signature on loan. Roma doesn't have the financial resources to match Chelsea's €40m asking price.

Roma are considering Lukaku as an alternative option to Duvan Zapata. Chelsea would need to cover a large portion of the player's salary which Roma cannot match for the time being. Roma fans are dreaming of welcoming Lukaku in the last days of the summer transfer window. Several sources Roma fans have put the Belgian on top of their wish list.

Todd Boehly has taken a firm stance when it comes to rejecting loan offers for Lukaku, yet they may have to soften that view with the end of the summer transfer window arriving on September 1. Roma requires a replacement for Tammy Abraham. He will be sidelined until the end of 2023 at the earliest with the knee injury that he sustained at the end of the last campaign.
