The Kolkata-based football heavyweights East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, and Mohammedan have appealed to the administration to let the semi-final and final of the Durand Cup 2024 be played in Kolkata.

The Kolkata-based football heavyweights East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, and Mohammedan have appealed to the administration to let the semi-final and final of the Durand Cup 2024 be played in Kolkata.

The quarter-final, semi-final, and final matches of the Durand Cup 2024 have been moved from Kolkata due to the protests relating to the rape and murder of Dr. Moumita Debnath at RG Kar Medical College. The students, civilians, and sports athletes want justice for this crime against Dr. Debnath and due to security reasons, the matches have been moved to other cities. In a joint press conference ahead of the Quarter-finals, Mohun BaganEast Bengal, and Mohammedan have appealed to the administration for the semi-final and final to be played in Kolkata.

"We are requesting the administration to let the semi-final and final of Durand Cup be played in Kolkata," East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, and Mohammedan unitedly requested.

They have also promised the administration that they would request the fans to cooperate with the security for a peaceful and enjoyable match.

"As responsible Sports Associations, we request the CBI officers handle the case properly because we want the hardest punishments for the criminals behind this worst crime and our deepest condolences to the family. We are in this fight not as a political party but as normal civilians. Those rallies are not politicized," the General Secretary of Mohun Bagan, Debashis Dutta said.

There were some questions asked if these Kolkata-based heavyweights are protesting against the government of Bengal. The Director of East Bengal, Debabrata Sarkar had the perfect answer to those questions. He said, "We are not here to judge the government. We just want justice for our sister Moumita."

Mohammedan Sporting Club's secretary Ishtiaque Ahmed was asked if they support the appeal for CM's resignation. He answered, "No We Don't. We do not support that."
