The 17-year-old FC Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal has broken yet another record, this time in the prestigious El Clasico against arch-rivals Real Madrid. Lamine scored against Real Madrid in FC Barcelona's emphatic 4-0 victory in LaLiga 2024-25 at the Santiago Bernabéu to become the youngest-ever footballer to put himself on the scoresheet in a Clasico game, surpassing Alfonso Navarro, who had held the record since 1947!

Yamal scored in the 77th minute of the game to make it 3-0 for Barcelona with an exceptional finish with his weaker right foot that fired the ball into the net.

Here in this special article, Sportzpoint brings you the list of the youngest-ever goalscorers in the history of El Clasico.

9. Lionel Messi | 19 years and 259 days | 2007

Lionel Messi is undoubtedly the greatest player ever to play for the Blaugranas. He scored his first goal against Real Madrid at the age of 19 years and 259 days in the El Clasico of 2006-07 Laliga at Camp Nou. In fact, he scored a hat-trick to end the match in a 3-3 draw

Messi is still the youngest player to score a hat-trick in a Clasico and he is the only one to do it twice as he scored three goals against Los Blancos at the Bernabeu in 2014.

8. Vinicius Jr. | 19 years and 233 days | 2020

The gifted young Brazilian is already an inseparable part of Los Blancos and he has proved himself to earn that place.

Being 19 years and 233 days old at that time, Vinicius Jr. opened the scoring in the 71st minute in Madrid's dominating 2-0 win over Barcelona on 2 March 2020. It was an important win for Real Madrid as they went on to win the LaLiga 2019-20.

7. Francisco Calvet | 19 years and 20 days | 1941

Francisco Calvet, former center-back of FC Barcelona, scored the first goal for FC Barcelona in the 25th minute of the first Clasico of Laliga 1941-42. However, Madrid had the last laugh with a 4-3 win over Barcelona in that match at the Bernabeu on 19 October 1941

Calvet was at the age of 19 years and 20 days when he scored that goal. His second position was intact until 1995 when Raul Gonzalez snatched the record.

6. Roger Garcia | 18 years and 289 days | 1995

Former FC Barcelona midfielder Roger Garcia scored the equalizer and the only goal for FC Barcelona in the first El Clasico of Laliga 1995-96 season. He scored in the 31st minute in this iconic 1-1 draw against Madrid at the Bernabeu on 30 September 1995

Garcia became the third on the list of youngest scorers in El Clasico at that time because he was only 18 years and 289 days old. Coincidentally, Raul Gonzalez scored in the same match to be the second on this list.

5. Gavi | 18 years and 163 days | 2023

Another young Barcelona talent at this moment, midfielder Gavi scored his first goal in Clasico in an all-important face-off against Real Madrid in the 2022-23 Spanish Supercopa final on 16 January 2023 at the King Fahd International Stadium in Saudi.

Gavi opened the scoring for Barcelona in the 33rd minute. He also assisted in the other two Barcelona goals, leading them to a 3-1 victory and lifting the trophy. Gavi was 18 years and 163 days of age at that time.

4. Raul Gonzalez | 18 years and 95 days | 1995

Former Los Blancos forward Raul Gonzalez scored in the same Clasico as Roger Garcia in the 1-1 draw on 30 September 1995, and both entered this list. Garcia scored the equalizer in response to Raul's goal.

Raul opened the scoring in the 12th minute of the game and he was at the age of 18 years and 95 days. Raul entered the list in 1995 as the second-youngest player to score in a Clasico match.

3. Ansu Fati | 17 years and 359 days | 2020

Ansu Fati may have lost his place in the core-team planning of FC Barcelona recently, but the fact that he started to emerge as a dependable player for Barca at such a young age, and that too in a tough time for his club, is something very appreciable and shows his capability on the pitch.

However, Fati topped every other player on this list in 2020 and surpassed his then-teammate Lionel Messi to become the second-youngest player ever to score in a Clasico. He also became the youngest Barca player to score in a Clasico game at the age of 17 years and 359 days on 24 October 2020

Fati scored the equalizer and the only goal for Barcelona in the 8th minute against Real Madrid. However, Barcelona lost the match by 1-3 eventually.

2. Alfonso Navarro |  17 years and 356 days | 1947

It was Alfonso Navarro who had the first place in this list for 77 years, until 2024. Navarro was a forward for FC Barcelona who set the record in 1947 at the age of 17 years of 356 days

Alfonso Navarro scored in the 39th minute of the game to double up Barca's lead in the El Clasico on 30 March 1947. After the final whistle, Barcelona had a 3-2 victory over Real Madrid.

Also, he is one of those players who played for either side of the Spanish giants as he joined Real Madrid in 1950 but came back to play for Barca in 1954

The 17-year-old youngster Lamine Yamal has stormed into the list and he is already the most high-profile young footballer on the planet at this moment. Now he has broken the 77-year record held by Navarro at the age of 17 years and 106 days

Lamine scored the third goal for Barcelona in the 77th minute during the thrilling first El Clasico of the LaLiga 2024-25 season on 27 October 2024

The UEFA Champions League is the pinnacle of club football, boasting the best talent from around the globe. Over the years, African players have made a significant impact on Europe's elite competition, with many of them showcasing their skills but also finding the back of the net consistently.

10. Sebastian Haller| 12 Goals | Ivory Coast:

While the Ivorian found the net just 10 times in 48 games for the Hammers, he experienced a career revival at Ajax, netting an impressive 32 times in 50 games. Sebastian Haller made his Champions League debut in the 2021-22 season, scoring in his first seven games in the competition, including four in his debut against Ruben Amorim’s Sporting. Haller scored just one more UEFA Champions League goal and was given just 10 minutes in the German side’s 2024 final defeat to Real Madrid.

9. Rabah Madjer | Algeria | 12 Goals:

Madjer is considered one of the best players in the history of Algerian football and shot to renown as a Porto player in the 1980s. He scored six goals on Porto’s first UEFA Champions League winning run, including the equalizer against Bayern Munich in the final at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion. Madjer retired in 1992 and twice managed his home country, having played in their first ever World Cup in 1982.

8. Vincent Aboubakar | 14 Goals | Cameroon:

Aboubakar made his UEFA Champions League debut in 2014 with Porto, scoring a goal in a 6-0 thrashing of BATE Borisov. He came back with a goal in the return fixture at home to Shakhtar and scored his first knockout goal against Basel but was an unused substitute in both quarter-final legs against Bayern Munich, including the 6-1 defeat that sent Porto out.

In the next two seasons, one spent at Porto and the other at Besiktas, Aboubakar netted six times but failed to get out of the group stage. He scored his final Champions League goals in 2017 with a brace against Monaco but was injured for the last 16 tie against Liverpool, a 5-0 defeat at the Estádio do Dragao.

7. Seydou Doumbia | 15 Goals | Ivory Coast:

10 most successful African Players with most goals in the UEFA Champions League: Seydou Doumbia-sportzpoint.com

Doumbia scored 15 UEFA Champions League goals in 31 games for three different clubs in his career. He moved to Basel in 2016, scoring just once in six games before ending his European run at Sporting in the 2017-18 season. He made his debut with CSKA Moscow, scoring five times in the 2011-12 season, but never hit that height again.

6. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang | Gabon | 17 Goals:

Aubameyang primarily scored his goals with Dortmund, he managed just two for Chelsea, but Gabon’s all-time top scorer never made it past the UEFA Champions League quarter finals having twice exited at that stage in 2014 and 2017. Aubameyang is, however, the all-time top goal scorer in Europa League history, netting 34 times in 62 games.

5. Riyad Mahrez | Algeria | 20 Goals:

10 most successful African Players with most goals in the UEFA Champions League: Riyad Mahrez-sportzpoint.com

Riyad Mahrez kicked things off with two goals in Leicester’s opening group match against Brugge before finding the net two more times ahead of the knockouts. He played every minute of Leicester’s knockout run but could only manage a single assist in that time.

In the 2020-21 season, Mahrez was a crucial player on Manchester City’s run, scoring in the quarters before three goals against PSG in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. However, he could not find the net as City lost 1-0 to Chelsea in the final. By the time of the 2023 win, Mahrez had fallen down the City pecking order and stayed on the bench for the whole of the 1-0 win against Inter.

4. Sadio Mane | Senegal | 27 Goals:

The 2019 and 2022 African Player of the Year Mane was a talisman in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool rebuild. Joining in 2016, Mane along with Salah and Roberto Firmino combined to be a lethal front three with the Senegalese player scoring 10 goals in the 17-18 UEFA Champions League season, a figure only beaten by his team-mates and Cristiano Ronaldo. Moving to Bayern Munich in 2022, Mane struggled to replicate his Liverpool form but still scored three goals in the group stages before departing for Al-Nassr in 2023.

3. Samuel Eto'o | Cameroon | 30 Goals:

10 most successful African Players with most goals in the UEFA Champions League: Samuel Eto'o-sportzpoint.com

The four-time African player of the year winner, a figure only matched by Yaya Toure, scored most of his UEFA Champions League goals for Barcelona including six in their 2005-06 triumph and four in the 2008-09 win under Pep Guardiola. Moving to Inter in 2009, Eto’o became the fourth player in history to win back-to-back Champions Leagues at different clubs and played every game in the Jose Mourinho-masterminded run. Still considered by many to be the best African player of all-time, Samuel Eto’o was a deadly mix of pace and clinical finishing.

2. Didier Drogba | Ivory Coast | 44 Goals:

With 10 goals in 10 finals, the Ivorian was the man for the big occasion, and he made his UEFA Champions League debut with Marseille in 2003, scoring five goals in six games. Getting his move to Chelsea the following season, Drogba hit the same number in the 2004-05 campaign but managed just one goal in seven appearances the next year.

He scored twice in the 2008 semi-final to set up a clash against rivals Manchester United, but a John Terry slip in a rain-soaked Moscow denied Chelsea their first UEFA Champions League title. But that success would come in 2012 with Drogba playing a starring role in the final.

1. Mohamed Salah | Egypt | 50 Goals:

Considering he scored just three goals in his first 15 UEFA Champions League appearances, betting on Mohamed Salah to one day become the leading African goal-scorer would have seemed a waste of money back in 2016. Famously a second choice of Klopp – the German preferred Julian Brandt – Salah hit 10 goals in his first UEFA Champions League season at Anfield, propelling Liverpool to their first final since 2007 but an early injury caused by Sergio Ramos forced him to the sideline as Real Madrid won 3-1 in Kyiv.

Final Verdict

A night of pure drama at the Metropolitano ended with Real Madrid emerging victorious from the penalty shootout after Atletico Madrid’s early blitz set the stage for an unforgettable battle.

Conor Gallagher shocked the visitors with a goal just 30 seconds in, catching Real cold and sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Atletico pressed high and dominated the first half, suffocating Ancelotti’s side and refusing to let them settle.

Real grew into the game after the break, with Vinicius Jr and Bellingham pushing forward, but Jan Oblak stood tall, denying several key chances. Atletico, too, had their moments to seal it, Griezmann’s curling effort came agonizingly close, but neither could put the tie to bed.

Extra time was a war of attrition, both sides running on fumes. Real nearly snatched it late, with Rodrygo striking the post, but penalties became inevitable.

In the shootout, nerves ran high. Real Madrid’s resilience shone through — Rüdiger, Mbappé, Valverde, and Bellingham converted with ice in their veins. Atletico faltered, with Álvarez and Llorente missing their crucial spot-kicks, while Lucas Vázquez uncharacteristically blasted his over for Real.

In the end, it was another classic European night for Los Blancos — battered, bruised, but never beaten. Atletico, brave and brilliant for large spells, are left heartbroken, knowing they were inches from glory.

Real Madrid march on, proving once again why they are the kings of Europe.

Half Time Verdict: ATM 1-0 RMA

What a blistering start at the Metropolitano! Conor Gallagher, the surprise inclusion in Diego Simeone's XI, wasted no time making his mark — smashing the opener past Courtois just 30 seconds in. Atletico came out like a team possessed, fueled by the electric home crowd, and Gallagher’s early strike set the tone.

Real Madrid, stunned by the rapid goal, struggled to find their rhythm. Vinicius Jr and Bellingham had flashes of brilliance but were largely kept quiet by Atletico’s well-organized, tenacious defense. Simeone’s side has been relentless off the ball, pressing high and forcing mistakes in midfield.

Carlo Ancelotti will demand more urgency from his men after the break. With their UCL hopes hanging in the balance, Los Blancos need a spark — and fast — to avoid crashing out.

It’s all set up for a blockbuster second half. Can Real Madrid fight back?
