The Indian Men's hockey team won the second consecutive match played against Japan 5-1 in the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 on Monday. With this victory, Team India has reached the top in the points table.

Team India had earlier won the match played against host China by 3-0. The Harmanpreet Singh-led side will take on Malaysia on Wednesday in their third league game.
Dominated in the first quarter itself
India maintained its dominance from the very beginning in the Asian Champions Trophy match played against Japan. They had scored two goals within two minutes of the start of the match. Due to which the Indian team completely dominated Japan.The first goal for India was scored by Sukhjeet Singh and the second goal was scored by Abhishek. Team India was leading 2-0 after the first quarter of play.
In the second quarter, Sanjay scored India's third goal in the 17th minute of the game and put Team India in a very strong position. Team India was leading 3-0 after the second quarter.
After that, in the next two quarters, Japan appeared to be under complete pressure. However, India did not score a single goal in the third quarter. Kazumasa Matsumoto scored for Japan in the 41st minute. This was the first goal for Japan.
India scored two goals in last moment
India was leading 3-1 in the match after the third quarter of play. Now the fourth quarter of the game started, before the end of which it seemed that this match will end on the score line of 3-1, but in the last few minutes, Uttam Singh and Sukhjeet Singh scored goals. Uttam Singh scored in the 54th minute and Sukhjeet Singh scored in the 60th minute to help Team India win the match 5-1.
Top 4 teams to qualify for semis
After the round-robin league among the six teams, the top-four sides qualify for the semifinals to be played on September 16. The final is scheduled for September 17.
