Argentina registered a 3-1 comfortable victory over Iraq in the Men's football competition in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 to keep their hopes alive for qualification to the next round.

Argentina got its first victory in the Paris Olympics 2024 men's football competition, thrashing Iraq 3-1 on Saturday in Lyon.ย Argentina suffered a shocking 2-1 loss to Morocco in its Group B controversial opening game.ย Iraq threatened to pull off another surprise when Aymen Hussein leveled the game in first-half stoppage time.

Thiago Almada opened the scoring with a volley in the 14th minute at Stade de Lyon.ย But Hussein's header in the fifth minute of first half-time added time changed the scoreline before the break. Gondou's far-post header in the 62nd restored Argentina's lead and Fernandez curled in a long-range shot from the edge of the box in the 85th to secure the victory for his side.
