In the men's 10m Air Rifle Junior event, Olympian Divyansh Singh Panwar won the gold medal at the Asian Airgun Championship 2022 in Daegu, South Korea, on Friday.

Indian shooters started their campaign on a positive note at the 15th Asian Airgun Championships 2022 here on Friday by winning gold, silver, and bronze medals. Along with Divyansh, Kiran Ankush Jadhav won the silver medal in the senior event. While Sri Karthik Sabari Raj won the bronze medal in Junior Men's Air Rifle event.
However, Divyansh finished top of the ranking round with a score of 260.7. He defeated local contender Seungho Bang 17-9 in the gold medal match. Bang followed Panwar in the ranking rounds with 260.1 points to make the two-men final. Ace shooter Divyansh is a beneficiary of the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) which was started in 2014 under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), Government of India in a bid to provide a boost to Indian sports. On the other hand, Karthik finished third with a score of 258.8. In men's 10m air rifle, Kiran Ankush Jadhav finished second in the ranking round. He scored 262.4 and South Korea's Hajun Park beat him by 10-16. Meanwhile, in the same event, defending world champion Rudrankksh Patil finished fourth with 260.2. While Arjun Babuta finished seventh with 154 points.
The airgun shooting championship, being held at the Daegu International Shooting Range, consists of competitions for juniors, youth, and seniors in air rifle and air pistol events. India has won three medals in the ongoing Asian Airgun Championship 2022 in Daegu, Korea.
