Asian Airgun Championship 2022: India's Manu Bhaker and Rhythm Sangwan bagged gold in 10m air pistol events

Tokyo Olympian Manu Bhaker clinched gold in the junior women's 10m air pistol event, defeating compatriot Esha Singh 17-15. While 18-year-old Rhythm Sangwan won gold in the Senior Women's 10m Air Pistol event by defeating compatriot Palak 16-8 in a one-sided match.

On the second day of the ongoing Asian Airgun Championship 2022 in Daegu, South Korea on Wednesday, Indian shooters were on fire. They won all four gold medals at stake on the second day.

Even after winning two golds, the Indian shooters' march of victory did not stop. Later in the day, the Indian men's senior and junior 10m air pistol teams also strengthened India's medal tally. They won gold medals in their respective events.

Meanwhile, the senior team of Shiva Narwal, Naveen, and Vijayveer Sidhu stormed into the Asian Airgun Championship 2022 by defeating 2018 world champions Lee Daemyung and Park Daehun as well as a strong South Korean team comprising Mok Jin Mun. Before the event, the South Korean team was being considered as the favorite. But in the close match, on the basis of better mental control, the Indian shooters defeated the Korean team 16-14 and won the gold medal.

Apart from all this, the junior team of Sagar Dangi, Samrat Rana, and Varun Tomar also won gold for India. In the final match of the day, the Indian team defeated Uzbekistan's Mukhammad Kamalov, Nuriddin Nuriddinov, and Ilkhombek Obidjonov by 16-2. With four gold medals and one silver each from Esha Singh and Palak on Wednesday, the Indian shooting team topped the Asian Airgun Championships 2022 medal tally with 34 medals. Which includes 22 gold, 8 silver, and 4 bronze.

Held at the Daegu International Shooting Range, the Championship consists of competitions for juniors, youth, and seniors. The program will conclude on 18 November.
