The pair of Rudranksh Patil and Mehuli Ghosh gave India its fifth gold medal in the Asian Shooting Championships 2024 by winning the 10 meter air rifle mixed team event in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Tuesday.

The Indian pair defeated the Chinese pair of Shen Yufan and Zhu Mingshuai 16-10 in the final. The Asian Shooting Championships 2024 is also serving as a joint Asian Olympic Qualifier. The Indian pair stood second in the qualification with a total of 631.3 points. Yufan and Mingshuai had secured the top position with 632.3 points.
This is the first gold medal of Asian Shooting Championships 2024 in the rifle category for India after the country won four gold medals in 10m air pistol events on Monday. But India is not up for any quota places in the rifle events since Indian shuttlers have already secured spots they are eligible for.
Earlier, the pair of Rhythm Sangwan Arjun Singh Cheema have also made it to the final of the 10m air pistol mixed team event where they will face the Vietnamese pair of Trinh Thu Vinh and Pham Quang Huy. Rhythm and Arjun had topped the qualification with 582 points while the Vietnamese pair had secured second place with 580 points.
On Monday, young shooters Varun Tomar and Esha Singh secured two Olympic quotas for India by winning gold medals in the men's and women's 10m air pistol individual events. Both of them were also part of India's gold medal winning men's and women's teams respectively.
With the qualification of these two, the number of Indian shooters who have qualified for the Paris Olympics 2024 has increased to 15, which is equal to the country's largest shooting contingent at the Tokyo Games.
Another Indian pair in the fray was Elavanil Vlarivan and Arjun Babuta. They finished at the fifth position in the qualification round with 629 points.
