Anish and Simranpreet Kaur Brar settled for a silver medal after losing to Ukraine in the 25m rapid-fire pistol mixed team event of the ISSF World Championships 2022 in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday.

India's 25m rapid-fire pistol mixed team lost to the experienced pair of Yulia Korostylova and Maksym Horodynets of Ukraine 14-16 in the gold medal match of the ISSF World Championships 2022. However, the Indian pair bagged the silver medal. With this medal, India's total medal tally in the table has gone up to 26, which includes 10 gold, six silver, and 10 bronze medals. India is still second in the table behind China. Anish and Simranpreet combined in 30-30 shots to score 575 in the qualification. In the second leg (from 14 teams to eight teams) again both finished on top with 383 points out of 400.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian pair reached the final from second place with 380 points. Rhythm Sangwan and Vijayveer Sidhu dropped out of the fifth place. Earlier they finished in the top eight in the same stage. The final was very exciting. The Indian pair were tied 6-6, 9-9, 11-11, and 14-14 but fell behind in the 15th and final series. Rather, they had taken an 8-6 lead at one point but the Ukrainian pair made a spectacular comeback.

In addition, in the women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions (3P) event, all three Indians cleared the elimination round hurdle. They achieved four quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Anjum Moudgil finished fourth in relay one with 587 points. Sift Kaur Samra finished seventh in relay two with 585 points. Ashi Chouksey finished 18th in the same relay with 581 points. Esha Singh topped the qualifying round of the 10m Air Pistol Women's Junior event with a score of 578. But she could only finish fifth in the ranking round.
