Tenth seeds Satwik-Chirag duo defeated top seeded Japanese players by 23-21, 21-18 in 49 minutes. Earlier, the Japanese pair became world champions in men's doubles in 2021.

The Indian pair made a strong start and quickly took a 20-16 lead. Nevertheless, Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi saved four game points to level the score at 20. However, the Indian team, the champions of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, maintained their composure and won the first game.

The second game was equally exciting. World number one men's pair took an 18-16 lead. But the Indian players won the match with five points in a row.

Chirag and Satwik had earlier this month also ousted the Japanese pair from the World Championships to win the bronze medal. Chirag and Satwik have played four matches against the Japanese pair and have won three. In the semi-final match, the Indian pair will face South Korea's Choi Sol Gyu and Kim Won Ho.

Meanwhile, HS Prannoy, who was currently ranked first for the BWF World Tour Finals in 2022, crashed out after losing 19-21, 22-20 and 19-21 to Lu Guang of China.
