Two years after suffering a stunning upset to Daniil Medvedev in the final at Flushing Meadows, the Serbian defeated Medvedev 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-3 inside Arthur Ashe Stadium for his 24th major title. Two months ago, Djokovic suffered a heartbreaking five-set defeat in the Wimbledon final to Carlos Alcaraz. Djokovic now owns two more majors than Rafael Nadal and four more than the retired Roger Federer.

Medvedev showed fight till the end in the US Open 2023 Final, hitting a forehand passing return winner on the serve-and-volley for love-15. But Djokovic responded with a volley winner, then watched Medvedev send a forehand sailing past the baseline for 30-15.

A rally of 21 shots ensued and Medvedev tried to win it with a backhand into the corner but missed a Championship point for Djokovic at 40-30. Novak Djokovic became the US Open champion for a fourth time.

"I fell in love with tennis. No one has played tennis in my family before, so it was quite a choice I must say," Djokovic said. "But incredible resilience, just belief from my parents, from all the people around me all these years. My wife my kids, my team, everyone that is there, this is your trophy as much as it is mine. This is your success. I love you," he added.
