Tennis star, Serena Jameka Williams will return to Wimbledon-2022 after 12 month long break as she received a wild card for the singles main draw of the grass-court Grand Slam event, tournament organisers have confirmed on Tuesday(June 14).

The 23-time Grand Slam winner has not played for 12 long month for the ankle injury in the opening round of last year. she slipped on the wet grass and was forced to retire early in the first set with a left leg injury. In the meantime, her ranking has fallen to 1,208.

She is now 40 years old and is all set to make her comeback to Wimbledon-2022 with an Instagram post. She captioned the photo "SW and SW19, It's a date. 2022. See you there," .

Williams also said in a statement "I am excited to return to the Rothesay International Eastbourne in England and to be back on the grass. – a surface that has been so good to me throughout my career. Eastbourne has a unique charm that you don't see anywhere else on Tour and I'm looking forward to playing in front of the fans again,"

To date, Williams has won seven singles titles at the All-England Lawn Tennis Club. Ahead of her return to Wimbledon-2022, Williams will kick off her 2022 season with an appearance at the LTA Rothesay International Competition in Eastbourne next week. She will pair up with Tunisia's Ons Jabeur in the doubles event.
