In the middle of the match everyone thought Nadal will give up. Even his sister and father were worried about him because of the pain he was suffering. But he didn't give up, took a break for treatment and came back like a brave warrior. He beat 24-year old Taylor Fritz on Centre Court in four hours and 20 minutes and qualified for the semifinals of Wimbledon 2022.

The 36-year old has won two Wimbledon singles titles and 22 Grand Slam men's singles titles in overall. His current rank is No.4. The defending champion is about to become the king of the Grass court again after 12 long years. But before that, there is uncertainty about Nadal's appearance against Nick Kyrgios in the semifinals.

"I just wanted to give myself a chance. Not easy to leave the tournament, not easy to leave Wimbledon, even if the pain was hard," Nadal said.

He added, "I don't know. I wanted to finish. I fought. Proud about the fighting spirit and the way that I managed to be competitive under that condition."

Nadal is more worried about the injury and he will do more scans before making a decision about continuing to compete at the Grass court major.

"Knowing that, when I feel something like I felt, that is because something is not going the proper way in abdomen. But let's see. I had these feelings for a couple of days. Without a doubt, today was the worst day, has been an important increase of pain and limitation." Nadal said.

Nadal is just two steps away from his third Wimbledon trophy. He has won the US Open and the French Open this year. He will have a 'calendar slam' if he wins the Wimbledon as well as the Australian Open. The 36-year old will face Australian player Nick Kyrgios in the semi-final on July 8.
