Cricket World Cup 2023: Team India | 2 titles

World Cup appearances and number of matches played:

India haven't missed a single World Cup since the beginning of this prestigious competition (1975). The Men in Blue side have played 84 games including the knockouts in which they have registered 53 victories and 29 losses.

India have a huge advantage of playing at home. Two times World Cup winner India have an excellent chance of delivering a successful 2023 campaign. The last World Cup victory came in 2011, and the team reached the semi-final stage on the previous two occasions. The squad, under Rohit Sharma, will certainly want to give supporters something to celebrate about.

Cricket World Cup 2023: Team Australia | 5 titles

World Cup appearances and number of matches played:

They have won the world cup record five times, and are also the only team considered as tournament favorites for every world cup, right from 1975 to present. The team has played a total of 96 world cup matches including the knockouts, the highest by any team. Their overall win–loss record is 70-24 (which gives it the highest win percentage among all teams playing the world cup), with one tied match and one being abandoned due to rain.

Australia are the most successful team in World Cup history, with five titles. They must again start as one of the main contenders. At the 2019 tournament, the team reached the semi-final stage, before losing to the eventual winner, England. This time, they don't wanna settle down in the same manner.

Cricket World Cup 2023: Team England | 1 title

World Cup appearances and number of matches played:

The England cricket team have appeared in every edition of the Cricket World Cup to date. They were losing finalists in 1979, 1987, and 1992. England have been eliminated from the tournament in the group stage on four occasions (1999, 2003, 2007, and 2015). The team has played a total of 84 matches including the knockouts. Their overall win-loss record is 49-33, with one tied match and one being abandoned.

The reigning World Cup champion, plus the winner of the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, it is hard not to believe England as one of the favourites. Under the captaincy of Ben Stokes, England have also enjoyed a resurgence at the Test level, so the side certainly has momentum heading into the World Cup.

Cricket World Cup 2023: Team New Zealand

World Cup appearances and number of matches played:

New Zealand have reached six semi-finals at Cricket World Cup which is more than any other, in 1975, 1979, 1992, 1999, 2007, and 2011. Their best performance in world cups came in 2015 and 2019 when they ended as runners-up.

The Kiwis lost to England last time around by the slimmest margin. The game tied after the 50 overs - and again after the extra over. New Zealand also reached the final in 2015, losing out to co-host Australia. All this may give the Kiwis confidence to go as a better side in 2023 and take home the trophy for the first time.

Cricket World Cup 2023: Team Pakistan | 1 title

World Cup appearances and number of matches played:

The Pakistan cricket team won their World Cup title in 1992. Pakistan have been Semi Finalist 4 times (1979, 1983, 1987 & 2011) and have also reached the Quarter Finals twice (1996 & 2015). Pakistan's win–loss record at the cricket world cup is 45-32, with 3 no results.

Coming off the back of a defeat to England in the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, Pakistan hopes to go one stage further and repeat its 1992 success in the 50-over tournament. However, there is a question over Pakistan's involvement in the tournament, due to a dispute with India over its attendance at the Asia Cup.

Cricket World Cup 2023: Team Netherlands

World Cup appearances and number of matches played:

The Netherlands participated in the 1996, 2003, 2007, and 2011 Cricket World Cups. The dutches will also appear in 2023 which will be hosted by India. They have played 20 matches at the competition to date and have registered only two victories.

Dutches are full of surprises. They qualified for the competition after some thrilling contests at the qualifiers. Netherlands are on a different momentum which can create upset and surely, they will be the most unexpected guest to be welcomed in the 13th edition of the Men's ODI World Cup. They have lots of quality but not the kind of which needed to qualify for the Semi-FInals but they will spoil some parties for sure.

Cricket World Cup 2023: Team Sri Lanka | 1 title

World Cup appearances and number of matches played:

Sri Lanka have appeared in every single World Cup edition and played 83 matches. They have won 38 matches and lost 39 while 1 match ended up as a tie and in the remaining five, they got no results.

Sri Lanka are not in their peak for quite some time. They haven't been competitive enough to challenge any team in the World Cricket but who knows what will happen in an ICC tournament and obviously the biggest of all. The stage will be different and Sri Lanka too can surprise in the most important situations. We can't just ignore them in a competition like that.

Cricket World Cup 2023: Team Bangladesh & Afghanistan

World Cup appearances and number of matches played:

The Bangladesh national cricket team has appeared in each Cricket World Cup since their first appearance at the 1999 Cricket World Cup as an associate team. They have played a total of 42 matches and their win-loss record is 14-25 while 3 matches were abandoned.

On the other side, Afghanistan debuted in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. They have appeared in only 15 games and registered only 1 victory.

Afghanistan and Bangladesh are among the 10 nations that taking part in the World Cup. There should be no doubt about them throwing up some surprises. Especially, Afghanistan holds that kind of quality at least to put a team into trouble and that's where the mental game comes. Bangladesh also lack quality but they have created upset in the past and they will be going with everything to do it again in the big stage.

Cricket World Cup 2023: Team South Africa

World Cup appearances and number of matches played:

On February 1992, South Africa made their first appearance at an ICC Cricket World Cup. Since then, they have been a part of every edition of the tournament. They haven't been successful in the World Cup in terms of winning trophies but reached the Semi-Finals four times.

South Africa are currently sitting 6th in the ICC Men's ODI rankings. After the end of their golden generation, they failed to rise from there. They finished 7th in the 2019 World Cup points table. This tells a lot about the level they are at right now. There are low expectations from them but if they step up then the competition level will be on another level.
