ICC has nominated the names of three players for ICC Player of the Month, out of which two are from Australia and one from India. India's senior fast bowler Mohammed Shami, Australia's ODI World Cup winner Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell have been shortlisted for the ICC award for November 2023.

Shami topped the wicket-taking charts at the 2023 Men's ODI World Cup, and brilliantly led India's bowling attack with several stellar performances during the month, as the hosts finished runners-up despite being favorites to win. While Maxwell has been selected for the ICC Player of the Month for the first time after a stellar November, which included one of the best World Cup performances against Afghanistan in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Travis Head has been nominated for the men's ICC Player of the month award for the first time as his match-winning contribution helped Australia win the ICC World Test Championship final with a win over India in London in June this year .

Travis Head (AUS)

Travis Head was not fully fit before the World Cup, and was returning from a long injury, but was still included in the World Cup squad. After almost half of the World Cup, Travis Head made a comeback, and then scored a total of 329 runs in 6 matches at an average of 54.83 and a strike rate of 127.51. During this period he played two century and one half-century innings. His two most special performances came in the semi-final and final matches of the World Cup, for which he also received the Player of the Match award in both these matches.

Glenn Maxwell (AUS)

The name of the second Australian player in ICC Player of the Month list is Glenn Maxwell, who has made an important contribution in making Australia the World Cup champion in this World Cup. Maxwell has scored 400 runs in 9 World Cup matches at an average of 66.66 and strike rate of 150.37. During this period he played century innings twice. Maxwell also played an unbeaten inning of 201 runs against Afghanistan, which led Australia to victory even in the lost match. That innings of Maxwell was such that it is seen once in centuries.

Mohammed Shami (IND)

The name of Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami is also included in ICC Player of the Month list. Mohammed Shami made his debut in the World Cup quite late, but still finished the World Cup by taking the most wickets. Shami played a total of 7 matches in this World Cup, and took a total of 24 wickets at an excellent average of just 10.70 and an economy rate of 5.26. During this period, Shami took 5-wicket haul thrice and 4-wicket haul once.

Bangladesh duo of Nahida Akter and Fargana Hoque, along with Pakistan left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal have been nominated for Women ICC Player of the Month award for November 2023.

Nahida is named on the shortlist for the second successive month after her performances guided Bangladesh to a 2-1 victory over Pakistan in Mirpur. On the other hand, with 110 runs in the victorious ODI series, Fargana earns her inaugural nomination for the ICC Player of the Month award. The opener played a key role in levelling the series for Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, Sadia, the left-arm spinner was among the wickets once more during Pakistan's visit to Bangladesh. Despite falling short of series victory, Sadia impressed with economical wicket taking spells in the early exchanges.
