The 7th edition of the T20 World Cup is started in UAE this week. After more than a year with the Covid-19 scare finally, the World Cup is happening. However, after waiting for over a year finally T20 World Cup is back with 16 teams are participating this year. The top 8 teams are already qualified for the main stage of the tournament. While the rest of the teams are playing for the final 4 spots including Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

1. SRI LANKA :

The Sri Lankan Cricket team is the most successful team in the T20 World Cup. Sri Lanka managed to win 23 matches in those 35 matches they played in the T20 World Cup till now. Moreover, under Lasith Malinga’s captaincy, Lanka managed to lift the trophy in 2014. Also, Dilshan and Mahela were the top scorers in the T20 World Cup 2009 and 2010 respectively.
2. INDIA :

In terms of wins, India comes at the second number just after the Sri Lankan team. India played a total of 33 matches in which they managed to end on the winning side 21 times. So, India is the second team with the most wins in the T20 World Cup stages. Moreover, India won the inaugural edition of the World Cup in 2007 under MS Dhoni. Also reached in the knockout stages several times(2014,2016).

3. PAKISTAN :

After Sri Lanka and India, another Asian team comes on the list as we can see Pakistan at number 3. The top three positions are currently dominated by all the Asian teams. Pakistan played a total of 34 matches in which they managed to win 19 of them. Pakistan won the 2nd edition of the T20 World Cup in 2009 under Younis Khan’s captaincy.
4. SOUTH AFRICA :

South Africa, the first non-Asian team comes on the list. Africa played a total of 30 games in the T20 World Cup till now and managed to win 18 of them. As South Africa comes at number 4 in this list of most wins in T20 world cups. However, till now South Africa does not play any finals of the last 6 editions and is keen to win a trophy.

5. WEST INDIES :

Two times T20 World Cup title winner West Indies surprisingly comes at number 5 in this list. They played 31 matches till now in the T20 World Cup stages and managed to win 18 matches of them. However, they won two titles(2012 & 2016) of the world cup under Dareen Sammy. Meanwhile, they are the defending champions of this year’s edition. They defeated England in the 2016 edition to win their 2nd title in just five years.
6. AUSTRALIA :

Five times ODI World Cup winner Australia never managed to win the T20 World Cup in the last 6 editions. Austalia played 29 matches in the T20 World Cup stages in which they managed to win 16 of them. Australian all-rounder Shane Watson was the player of the series in the 2012 World Cup. Although, they did not win a single edition till now but are keen to win this time.

7. ENGLAND :

ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 winner England comes at the 7th position in terms of winning matches in the T20 World Cup stages. Although, they reached in T20 World Cup 2016 finals but did not get over the line as Braithwaite takes it away from them. England played a total of 32 matches in the T20 World Cup till now in which they won only 15 of them. However, England won T20 World Cup 2010 under the captaincy of Paul Collingwood.

8. NEW ZEALAND :

New Zealand had already won the World Test Championship earlier this year and is keen to win their first T20 World Cup this time. They comes at the last spot when it comes to winning matches in the T20 World Cup stages. New Zealand played 30 matches in which they managed to win half of them and is seeking to win the T20 Cup this year.
