Former India captain Rahul Dravid went as head coach to Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series last month. India enjoyed success on the Sri Lankan tour. The tour was led by Shikhar Dhawan by winning the ODI series and losing a closely-fought T20 series by 1-2. Although nine cricketers were sideline due to Krunal Pandyaโ€™s positive COVID-19 test. For the 19 Indian players who played in Sri Lanka almost half of them debuted in one format or the other. However, the tour was an opportunity to learn from Rahul Dravid. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will soon have to take a call over giving an extension to the coaching staff. As per an Indian Express report, Ravi Shastri has informed some board members that he is aiming to step down from his role after the T20 WC. Shastriโ€™s tenure as head coach ends with the T20 World Cup. At this point, BCCI may want to know if Dravid is willing to accept the role on a long-term basis. There is a current age cap of 60 years for the BCCI support staff and Shastri turned 59 years this year.
