FC Barcelona's teenage sensation, Lamine Yamal is reportedly close to a contract extension with the club. The 17-year-old Spanish winger will pen down a contract that will run until the summer of 2030.
Nicolo Schira, the acclaimed football transfer news expert, has confirmed the news on X (Twitter) whereas AS also confirmed the news on December 18, 2024.

2024 has been a blessing for Lamine Yamal
2024 has been a standout year for Lamine Yamal, who has continued to offer his brilliance for both his club FC Barcelona, and his national team, Spain. The teenager, who only turned 17 in July 2024, lifted the 2024 Euro with Spain as the youngest footballer to achieve such a feat.
Lamine also earned plenty of decorations for his personal trophy cabinet; winning the Euro 2024 Young Player of the Tournament award, the 2024 Ballon d'Or Kopa Trophy, and the 2024 Golden Boy Award.

However, Lamine has also proved himself instrumental for the Catalan club where he continued his record-breaking stint. He became the youngest footballer ever to score in an El Clasico game in October 2024. Since the start of the 2024-25 season, Lamine has amassed 6 goals and 12 assists in 21 matches for Barca in all competitions.

Barcelona officials had to cut short the duration of the extension in 2023 to 3 years, due to FIFA's restrictions for minors. As per AS, Barcelona officials already sketched their two-staged renewal plan in 2023, stating that Yamal will sign the new contract extension in July 2025 when he turns 18.
Yamal's performance in 2024 has hot up his market value; so, Barcelona must execute beneficial changes in the financial variables as well. It will be a 5-year-long contract extension and will need Barcelona officials to verify all possible equations.
