This match is like do or die for India. If the team wins this match, it will be in a much better position to qualify for the final stage of the 18-team qualifiers for the first time. While Kuwait had defeated Afghanistan 4-0 in the last match and their morale would be high.

Chhetri recently announced his retirement

Chhetri, one of India's greatest footballers, had recently announced his retirement from football and had said that he will play for India for the last time on June 6 against Kuwait. Chhetri has been the flag bearer of Indian football for the last 19 years and the 39-year-old will be ready to give his all for the team.

The top two teams from nine groups of four teams each will advance to the third stage of qualification. FIFA has increased Asia's quota by eight berths in the World Cup and the winners will be decided only after the third phase.

If India wins, it can take the lead over Afghanistan

India is second in Group A with four points from four matches, behind Qatar (12 points). Afghanistan is in third place, lagging behind on goal difference. Kuwait is at the last position with three points. If the Indian team is successful in defeating Kuwait then it can take the lead over Afghanistan. Afghanistan will face Qatar on Thursday itself. Afghanistan is seven goals behind India in terms of goal difference and it will be very difficult for them to bridge this gap after India's victory.

India will come with strong preparation

After Chhetri, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu is the second most experienced player of the team with 71 matches. However, India will come with strong preparation for this India vs Kuwait match.

The team has made some interesting changes in the form of I-League forwards Edmund Lalrindika and David Lalhlansanga. It is the first time in five years that a player from the second-tier league will be set to make his national debut.

The team will have to deal with the absence of Sandesh Jhingan in defense, who was ruled out of the Asian Cup in January due to injury. The focus will be on players like Rahul Bheke, Anwar Ali, and Subhashish Bose to fill his void.

The team will also have expectations from Lallianzuala Chhangte. He scored 10 goals and assisted six goals for Mumbai City in the ISL season. He would like to maintain this momentum in the India vs Kuwait match, who has an experienced player like Hassan Al Enezi in defense.
