Barcelona didn’t have the greatest of starts to their La Liga 2021-22 campaign. The Spanish giant’s coach Ronald Koeman has offered his thoughts on Monday’s 1-1 draw with Granada. He seemed to think his team had done “pretty well” all things considered. Barcelona must capitalise on weaker teams from the start or else it will end up as a similar story like the previous season in La Liga 2021-22 campaign.

The hosts were without a lot of players through injury. However, he put in a pretty shambolic showing and only escaped with a point thanks to a late Ronald Araujo header.

Here’s what Koeman had to say on the draw:

“Look at our squad list,” he said. “We did what we could. We don’t have the players from the tiki-taka days and have to play with our own style.”

“I think we did well and, with some more time, we could have won. The basic system was 4-3-3 in the first half, then I had to make changes based on what I had on the bench.

“This isn’t the Barcelona of eight years ago. That’s the way it is. With Ansu [Fati] and [Ousmane] Dembele it’s different because we have more depth.”

Koeman did admit “you can’t be happy with a draw against Granada” but then went on to complain about the tedious time-wasting from Granada.
