"Vikram Pratap, who was playing for someone in the heavens," the commentator said at the end of the Mumbai City FC vs Bengaluru FC game in ISL 2023-24 after a man-of-the-match performance from Vikram Pratap Singh. The 22-year-old right winger from Punjab scored a brace for Mumbai City FC to beat Bengaluru FC by 2-0 at their home on Sunday.
Vikram from his early days used to dedicate each of his goals to his father as he was the one who used to be happiest watching him score. "My father used to be the happiest whenever I used to call home after scoring a goal. He used to celebrate most in my home and everywhere," Vikram said in the post-match presentation.
"He used to say, your goal made my day," an emotional Vikram Pratap went on to add.
But unfortunately, his father will now never pick up his call whenever he calls his home after scoring a goal. This was the first match Vikram was playing a game after losing his father and Vikram could not hold back his tears talking about his late father in the post-match presentation.
"I know he will not be there whenever I will call my home now. But, all my goals will be for him," a teary Vikram expressed.
Vikram scored his first goal in the 42nd minute from a Lalianzuala Chhangte pass. Then he scored his second goal in the 58th minute via a header to give Mumbai City FC their 8th win of the season in the Indian Super League.
Vikram, who joined Mumbai City FC back in the 2020-21 season from Indian Arrows till now has played in 82 games so far for the Islanders. Moreover, he has extended his contract with Mumbai City FC till 2026. Vikram was named in India's squad for the AFC Asian Cup 2023 in Qatar and did not feature in any games for the Blue Tigers.
