Team News
Paris Saint-Germain
Even after losing a rare home match in Paris, PSG eventually came out on top in their last-16 match against Liverpool, winning 4-1 on penalties after completing a second-leg victory at Anfield to bring the tie level.
That was built on a trip that began in the league stage with Luis Enrique's relatively younger side, which boasts the youngest average starting XI remaining in this season's Champions League but was struggling even to make it into the playoffs.

Saturday's league victory against Angers secured another French championship for PSG with six games in hand, keeping them on course for an 'invincible' season.
Defeated by Borussia Dortmund in the semifinals of last season - and Bayern Munich in the 2020 final - PSG's attention is now set on completing the final moves to win the long-elusive Champions League trophy.

Coach Luis Enrique will be confident after the club's majestic RO16 victory over Liverpool, though he will have to exclude the skipper Marquinhos, who is suspended tonight. Kang-in Lee is doubtful, but the rest of the squad is fully fit and available. Fabián Ruiz will miss the return leg if is receives a yellow tonight.
Aston Villa
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery was in charge at PSG between 2016 and 2018, claiming one league championship and four domestic cups during his tenure.
Villa directly qualified for the last 16 by finishing in the top eight in the league phase, and they went on to beat Club Brugge 6-1 on aggregate in their RO16 battle.
That came just after the 1982 European champions had suffered a rough patch in the Premier League, but since then, they have been back to their best.

After a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest last weekend, recording a seventh consecutive victory in all competitions, the Villans are well and truly in contention to qualify for Europe once again, and they also have a semi-final of the FA Cup to anticipate.
So, they are just two victories away from their first major home trophy in 29 years, along with the distinction of being one of the mere eight clubs still in contention for the Champions League.

Unai Emery will have to sideline Ross Barkley due to a knee injury, whereas Villa's knockout hero Leon Bailey is also doubtful for the game. On the other hand, Lucas Digne, Axel Disasi, Boubacar Kamara, and Marcus Rashford are all at risk of getting suspended in the second leg if they get booked tonight.
Head-to-head Stats
Paris SG and Aston Villa will meet for the first time in a European competition, with this just the second UEFA Champions League quarter-final between French and English sides in the last eight campaigns (Manchester City 1-3 Lyon in the only leg in 2019-20).
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has won just two of his 10 games against Luis Enrique as a manager (D1 L7), with both wins coming in home fixtures. Indeed, this will be the first time they’ve faced each other since the 2016-17 campaign, when Luis Enrique’s Barcelona came from 0-4 down in the first leg to eliminate Emery’s Paris SG side in the UEFA Champions League last 16 (6-1 win in the second leg).
