Cole Palmer has etched himself into history books scoring 4 goals in the first half of Chelsea's meeting against Brighton and Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge yesterday. The English youngster has stormed into an elite club after setting some new records that may drop one's jaw.

You read it right. Cole Palmer has created history and set a new ambitious record for others to chase as he becomes the only player to score 4 goals in the first half of a Premier League match.  

After Chelsea conceded an early goal against Brighton in the 7th minute of the game, Palmer put on a goalscoring show that started in the 21st minute as his powerful left-footed strike ended up in the bottom left corner of Brighton's goal. He scored his second from the spot in the 28th minute.

Palmer completed his third Premier League hat-trick with an exquisite free-kick in the 31st minute. Finally, in the 41st minute, Palmer accomplished the remarkable record with a composed finish and achieved the feat of being the only one to score 4 goals in the first half of a Premier League match.

Palmer joins another list of elites who all scored 4 or more goals in one half of a Premier League match. However, all of them scored 4 goals in the second half. Here are those players who scored 4 or more in one half before Palmer:

1. Jermain Defoe | 5 goals vs Wigan Athletic

On the 22nd of November 2009, Jermain Defoe scored 5 goals for Tottenham in a 9-1 win over Wigan Athletic in the 2008-09 Premier League.

Defoe still holds the record for the most goals scored in one half as he scored 5 goals that came in the 51st, 54th, 58th, 69th, and 87th minutes of the game. 

2. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer | 4 goals vs Nottingham Forest

The former Manchester United manager and player, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer netted 4 goals for Manchester United in the second half of the match against Nottingham Forest on the 6th of February, 1999. Remarkably, all of his goals came after 80 minutes of the game.

Solskjaer scored in the 80th and 87th minutes and two goals in the added time as Manchester United defeated Nottingham by a huge scoreline of 8-1.

3. Sergio Aguero | 4 goals vs Newcastle United and Leicester City

Sergio Aguero, the Manchester City legend is the only player on this list to score 4 goals in one half on two occasions. 

His first 4-goals-spree came against Newcastle United on 3rd October 2015. However, Aguero scored 5 goals in total for City in that match but scored his first in the 42nd minute of the game. The rest of his goals came in the 49th, 50th, 60th, and 62nd minutes in City's 6-1 win over Newcastle.

Aguero's second stint of scoring four came on the 10th of February, 2018 against Leicester City in Man City's 5-1 win over them. Aguero scored in the 48th, 53rd, 77th, and 90th minutes of the game.
