Manchester United is the latest club to get affected again by the virus. After Norwich City, Arsenal, Leicester City, and Aston Villa are said to be the clubs affected by the variant as well.

The League announced 42 positive tests for Covid on Monday which is the most ever recorded in a single week. As of now, 2 fixtures are canceled: Brighton vs Tottenham and Brentford vs Manchester United.

Premier League news outlets state that the clubs' worries that the slow pace of their vaccination programs; had a negative impact and left the majority of players facing a wait to receive the booster jab.

The Challenges Faced by the Premier League Clubs

However, Wolves are the only top-flight EPL club set to meet Boris Johnson's target of boosting all over-18s by the end of the month; though Leeds and Brentford are also progressing in this situation. Many of the players have not been vaccinated with the second dose after October.

The new possible postponement of the Premier League will bring more challenges for the club and the players. With the World Cup in Qatar closing in, this will clash with the fixtures; and create massive congestion which will impact the player.

However, it is to be said that the Premier League will not close down as a whole. But there will be new protocols and guidelines to follow to ensure the safety and smooth progression of the competition.
