Real Madrid welcomed Celta Vigo who are sitting in the 12th position of the table. Real Madrid started well and controlled the possession throughout the 90 minutes. Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo: Match Report
First Half:
Celta Vigo attempted the first shot of the match the shot went harmlessly wide. Both teams started with loose passes but soon Madrid managed to control the game from there. Although Celta might be happy with their start as they kept themselves in shape. Things heated up when Vazquez booked for clattering into Ceballos in the 18th minute. Madrid started to crank up a bit. A better effort from Asensio from the edge of the box but it deflected just over Villar's crossbar in the 21st minute.
Asensio curled a free-kick into the box and it was only just too high for Benzema, who was lurking just a few yards out after some minutes. In the 30th minute, Real Madrid got another free-kick in a VERY dangerous position. Vinicius drove at the Celta defence and it was judged to have been pushed over. It was Benzema who hit the wall. Vinicius got behind the Celta defence for the first time. He cut it back for Asensio, whose deflected strike flew into the net in the 41st minute. Real Madrid got their well-deserving lead after missing out few chances.
Second Half:
Real Madrid started the second half with the same intensity. Although the visitors got an early chance as Veiga broke into the box but was penalised for a foul just when it looked as if he might be able to pick out Aspas or Seferović in the box. Real Madrid got a corner in the 46-47th minute and Eder Militao made no mistake to put the ball in the back of the net. Real Madrid doubled up the lead and it shattered the hopes of Celta Vigo for a comeback.
Real Madrid hasn't been playing well throughout the match but they somehow managed to score 2 goals at the right time. Galán slung a high cross to the box post. Veiga provided a cross first-time on the volley and it just deflected away from the waiting Seferović in the 56th minute. Aspas has been a superb player for Celta for a number of years, but the pace has never been one of his main strengths. He had a huge head start on Camavinga as he looked to get clean through on goal, but the Frenchman ate the ground and picked his pocket with time to spare in the 60th minute. Real Madrid won the match by a 2-0 scoreline but they were clearly not perfect throughout the match. Celta Vigo performed well but weren't able to score. Real Madrid are 8 points behind Barcelona who have played a lesser match.
