Ronaldo's controversial reaction to Lionel Messi winning record 8th Ballon d'Or

Lionel Messi winning his eighth Ballon d'Or made his fans around the world happy. But there are some who are not happy seeing Messi winning yet another Ballon d'Or, a record 8th Ballon d'Or. Fanbases can argue all they want because it has been a rivalry between Ronaldo and Messi for over a decade but when Cristiano Ronaldo himself validates by liking and commenting on a controversial video post by Tomas Roncero, it's not quite avoidable.

Spanish journalist, Tomas Roncero posted a controversial video after Messi was awarded the Ballon d'Or for the 8th time. In the video, Roncero differed with the opinions of French Media by commenting that Messi should have five Ballon d'Ors instead of eight. He claimed that three of Messi's Ballon d'Ors, including the latest one, is undeserved and should have been given to Haaland.

Roncero said, "Hello friends. What we knew has happened. They were going to give another Ballon d'Or to Messi. He went to retire at Miami, but he was already looking retired at PSG to prepare for the World Cup. He won the World Cup, yes, well, but with 6 penalties in their favor."

"The World Cup was 10 months ago, we're in November. Messi has eight Ballon d'Ors well, he should have five, he has the Ballon d'Ors of Iniesta and Xavi, Lewandowski who won six trophies in one season and Haaland who was the top scorer of everything," he added.

The post was spreading a lot of attention and hate towards Roncero himself and Messi. Some fans were agreeing with him and some were not but it went through the roof when Cristiano Ronaldo 'liked' the post. He couldn't just stopped himself there and decide to comment on the post. He didn't write anything but left with 'four haha emojis'.

Ronaldo's doing surely states that he is agreeing with Roncero here but that's just not that. He has been a fierce rival of Messi for a long period and despite many wins and losses they never backed off congratulating each other's successes and praising the greatness they both behold.

So why this was necessary from his end? It was not needed as both the player's career was leaning toward a sweet end. This bizarre reaction from CR7 is catching a huge amount of hate towards him. Ronaldo and Messi were always there to share the same amount of passion, dedication, love and respect towards the game so why this thing just happened all of a sudden?
