Team News

Spain

Under Luis de la Fuente, Spain are the only team to have won all five matches so far in the Euro 2024, and no nation in European Championship history has won six times in a single finals or even registered six wins in a row. Spain have progressed from four of five European Championship semi-finals to date. However, they lost on penalties to eventual winners Italy at this stage in the last edition of the Euros.

Legendary Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal and influential defender Robin Le Normand will serve suspensions, while Pedri was forced off in the early stages of the quarter-final due to an injury. The Barcelona midfielder suffered a medial collateral ligament knee sprain and will miss the semi-final and even the final if Spain progresses further.

Nacho and Jesus Navas will start in the La Roja's back four alongside Laporte and Cucurella. Dani Olmo's sensational performance against Germany was proof of what he can do. He will be the starter in place of injured Pedri alongside Fabian Ruiz who is having a brilliant campaign and Manchester City defensive midfielder Rodri.

Up front, captain Alvaro Morata will be supported by Nico Williams and 16-year-old Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal. Yamal has been the best attacking player for Spain in the Euro 2024 and it is hard to believe he is still so young.

France

France are aiming to reach a fourth European Championship final. There have only been four goals scored in their five Euro 2024 matches so far and all by way of either penalties or own goals. France have no disciplinary issues to worry about, but Kylian Mbappe's nose injury remains a concern as he is not looking 100%

The former Paris Saint-Germain striker has scored only one goal from 20 shots at Euro 2024 thus far and that too via a spot kick. Mike Maignan will start behind an unchanged defence. The Milan shot-stopper has been sensational until now. Theo Hernandez, Saliba, and Kounde are rock solid in defence and they are one of the reasons why France are in the semi-final.

Adrien Rabiot is back from a one-match ban, but it remains to be seen whether he can displace Eduardo Camavinga, who started for France in the match against Portugal. Thuram and Kolo Muani both have disappointed the fans as they are yet to find the shooting boots. Griezmann is unable to regain his form too. France do have a brilliant squad but it seems like something is not clicking.

Possible XIs

Spain's possible starting lineup:

Simon; Navas, Nacho, Laporte, Cucurella; Olmo, Rodri, Ruiz: Yamal, Morata, Williams

France's possible starting lineup:

Maignan; Kounde, Saliba, Upamecano, Hernandez; Kante, Tchouameni, Rabiot; Griezmann; Kolo Muani, Mbappe
