India beat Bangladesh 2-0 with the help of Sunil Chhetri on Monday night. It was the World Cup qualification 2nd Round Group E โ€“ Round 9. The neighbours played their 7th match in the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, Qatar.

India dominated the entire match with 74% ball possession, Bangladesh hardly created any chances. They had just a mere 4 shots on the Indian goal while 2 of them were on target. On the other hand, India took 16 shots out of which 5 were on target and 2 ended up in the net.

Ashique Kurunianโ€™s cross met Sunil Chhetriโ€™s head in the 78th minute which broke the deadlock. The second goal from the captain came in the dying minutes (90th min) finally putting Bangladeshi hopes in the grave. A beautiful shot from the centre of the box to the top left corner from Chettri closed the match in style for India. The second goal was assisted by Suresh Wangjam.

Sunil Chhetri was also named the player of the match with two goals to his name. He got a FOTMOB rating of 9.0 for his brilliant performance in the match.
