UCL 2021-22: Barcelona hits new low as they get eliminated from the first round first time since 2000-01 season

Barcelona's round of 16 dreams was shattered as they lost 3-0 to Bayern in their crucial UCL 2021-22 match. Barcelona has failed to produce any positive impact on their must-win match. This group knockout was their 4th in club history and the first time since the 2000-01 season.

Barcelona was placed in a competitive group in their UCL 2021-22 campaign that included Bayern, Benfica, and Dynamo Kyiv. However, the previous Bayern-Barca meeting ended up horribly for the team from Spain. A poor performance from Barcelona has allowed Benfica to slip through to the round of 16; which pushed down Barcelona to Europa League.

Xavi led Barcelona into the game against Bayern battling for the 2nd spot against Benfica. But Bayern had no trouble taking down Barcelona again this season. On the other hand, Benfica slammed Kyiv 2-0 to take the 2nd spot. Goals from Muller, Sane, and Musiala made sure that Barcelona lost their composure and lose confidence to fight back.

Manchester United failed to take their revenge and their first loss against Young Boys; as they both level at 1-1 at the full-time whistle. Mason Greenwood's opening goal went in vain as Fabian Rieder scored back the equalizer just before halftime. Manchester United failed to produce any magic in the 2nd half which resulted in them ending the match deadlocked. However, United finished at the top of Group F and have qualified for the round of 16.
