Paralympics 2024: Para shuttlers Sukant Kadam, Tarun, Suhas make it to Paris Paralympics

Top Indian para-shuttlers Sukant Kadam, Tarun, and Suhas have sealed their places for the upcoming 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris. Sukant will be competing in the mega event for the first time and will represent the country in the men's SL4 category. SL4 is for players who have a limited range of motion on one side of their body, in both legs. Apart from him, Tarun and Suhas will be competing for the SS-4 category. The Paralympics 2024 will be held in Paris from 28 August to 8 September.

Sukant's performance has been excellent

In the last few years, Sukant has consistently performed well and won medals for the country. He won the bronze medal in the Asian Games. He has got a place in the Paralympics for the first time. The shuttler is currently in Bahrain for the start of the Para-Badminton International tournament.

"This is a dream come true for me, I have worked hard to qualify for the Paralympics. But this is not the end of the dream, winning a medal and making India proud is how I would like this dream to end." Kadam said in a release.

Mandeep Kaur cut the SL-3 category

Mandeep Kaur cut the SL-3 women's category (for players with the absence of one side of the body, both legs or limbs) while Nithya and Sivarajan also cut the mixed doubles SL-6 category.

Nishad Kumar won the medal

High jump para athlete Nishad Kumar won the medal for India on Sunday. On the third day of the 2024 Para Athletics World Championships in Kobe, Japan, Preeti Pal won the silver medal and the bronze medal in the women's 200-meter event. Tokyo Paralympics silver medalist Nishad finished second in the Men's High Jump T47 final with a performance of 1.99m. Roderick Townsend of America won the gold medal with a jump of 2.05m. Another Indian, Ram Pal, finished sixth with his season's best performance of 1.90m.
