After upsetting World No. 1 Andy Murray in the quarterfinals of the 2017 Wimbledon Championship, he became the first American to reach the last four of a Grand Slam in eight years. He also reached the quarterfinals of the 2016 Wimbledon Championships, defeating Novak Djokovic and ending his four-match Grand Slam-winning run.

With 78 aces served in a single Davis Cup match against Radek Stepanek in 2009, Karlovic maintains the record for most aces served in a single Davis Cup match. He also holds the record for most aces served in a three-set match, with 45 aces served in a match against Tomas Berdych at the 2015 Gerry Weber Open. However, Karlovic has served an astonishing amount of 13,728 aces to date.
